Gastric Bleeding. Emergency Surgery

I had a laproscopic Roux-en-Y in 2009 and have dropped from 26 stones to 14 stones. I was put on Oemoprazole to protect my Stomach Lining. Last year my GP reviewed all my Meds and believed Oemoprazole was no longer needed. 3 days ago I was rushed into my nearest NHS Hospital with severe pain in abdomen and shoulders. This has flared my Fibromyalgia through the roof. I had emergency surgery and am now awaiting further tests. Whatever you do, Never Stop Taking Oemoprazole if you've been prescribed it. Back to sleep.....

So sorry to read that you have had this frightening experience just shows our GP's don't always know best. I have been on Lansaprazole for years and I know that I don't feel great all all on the occasions when I have missed a few tablets.

Do hope you recover soon. As Sorebones say you have done fantastically well I the the weight loss.,

I take Lanzoprazole for my stomach and fortunately I only take them as and when needed. Omeprazole caused me all sorts of problems, speak to your doctor about them x

I take 40mg of Esomeprazole twice a day for the last 12 years. Max dose is 40mg but after 10-12 hours I would suffer terrible re-flux and stomach cramps. Went to see a specialist and he told me to take it twice a day. I couldn't survive without taking it now. My life would be hell without it. I still get some pain now and then but only if I fall a sleep after taking it. I often get night terrors and wake up in a cold sweat. That is when my anxiety levels are high. I agree you shouldn't come off them. Sleep well
