Emergency dentist

Hi all

Well I went to the emergency dentist. Apparently I have an abscess under the tooth and it's oozing when he touches it. It's also making the tooth move a bit hence the pain eating

He's prescribed antibiotics, just amoxicillin 500 3 x a day.

He's told me once the infection had gone find a dentist I trust and get some root work done.

That doesn't sound very nice or much fun at all.

Hope the antibiotics kick in soon and make you feel a lot ,better.

Take care .

Speedy recovery.

Thanks. I'm taking cocodamol and the dentist yesterday said ibuprofen which is helping with pain. I'm going to start a salt mouthwash.

Oooh.... that sounds nasty, you poor thing!

Have you tried swishing with dispersable aspirin in warm water?

Hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

Thanks. I can't take aspirin but can see how that works. Tried a whisky mouthwash. How do people drink that. It's like eating the still glowing embers from your peat fire. Ugh.

Neither aspirin or whisky will help, hot salt water mouthwash is best.

You can do it more often, hot as you can take, hold it over the tooth. I worked in dentistry for many years and it's standard advice.

It's funny my dad always swore by gargling with salt water for sore throats. Nowadays they're recommending it. Seems the old remedies are being proven right

You would think that whisky would help deaden the pain but unfortunately has th opposit effect.

Any alcohol draws the blood to the surface and makes it throb more.Really painful.

Hope its better soon.
