Following my hysteroscopy I was able to start my natural FET, brilliant I thought no drugs but still taking steroids.
Last week I went for my day 8 scan - all looked good. Then I had a day 12 scan - great size follicle on my right size but some free fluid in my uterus. This morning I got my LH surge so in theory my transfer should be this week well I went for another scan and the fluid is even worse and the cycle has been abandoned.
My consultant doesn’t understand what’s causing the fluid, he said in a medicated cycle they would expect to maybe see a little but not in a natural. Next month I can try another natural cycle but if there’s still fluid I will have change to a medicated cycle.
Does anyone have experience of this please?

Hi E_05. So sorry to hear this. Free fluid in the womb is often associated with hydrosalpinx (fluid in the Fallopian tubes) or sometimes polycystic ovaries. Maybe ask about a hysteroscopy (womb x-ray) to check everything out?? Obviously with fluid hanging about, it would probably interfere with a developing embryo from implanting, so that's why this cycle would have been abandoned. Hope all goes well next time. I shall be thinking of you. Diane
Thank you Diane, my consultant did explain about the free fluid affecting implanting so I’d rather get it sorted to give ourselves the best chance. I had a hysteroscopy in March, do you think it’s worth asking to have another one?
Gutted for you that’s been abandoned. Mine was also abandoned last cycle because of fluid but I was on a heavily medicated cycle (21 day long protocol). In my case the fluid was caused by scar tissue forming from a previous surgery but I also suspected the meds didn’t help matters. Had a hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago to remove adhesions and I am determined to do a natural FET next time but so concerned for you and to hear that the fluid can develop at any stage and regardless of meds. SO frustrating, thinking of you xx
Thank you, sorry to hear all you’ve been through - my consultant said they expect fluid through meds but didn’t seem to have many answers for me. I had a hysteroscopy middle of March to drain the fluid yet it seems to of re appeared. Good luck for your next cycle, I hope it works for you 🤞 xx
Stupid fluid!! Just so frustrating how many twists and turns there are on this journey, and the waiting for info or news of any description from consultants is also maddening. I feel your pain and really hope you get some answers soon xx
Thank you, they don’t seem to know have said I can try natural again next month and if the fluids still there Il have to change to medicated. How are you? Xx
