So I'm not really sure where to start. I've recently had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and am awaiting the histology results. Feeling very worried as they found multiple aphthous ulcers and erythema in my terminal ileum. From the reading around the subject and the other symptoms I'm experiencing it strikes me that it's likely to be Chron's.
So, some history. In my teens I experienced largely constipation,my fecal calprotectin was raised at 189 and so I was sent to a gastro who did a flexible sigmoidoscopy and declared it was likely ibs-c. Skip forward a few years and I started experiencing awful joint pain and fatigue. My ferritin and b12 are always low without b12 injections and constant iron supplements. I get pain, gas and nausea every time I eat and get multiple loose stools a day My fecal calprotectin in December was 975 which got me the referral but due to COVID delays only got in to see the consultant in July. In may my calprotectin was 315.
Ive been told it will likely be 6-8 weeks before I hear any more regarding my results and it seems to be dragging by!
Some advice and reassurance would be great on what to expect next and how things are likely to progress.
Thanks

I don’t have any advise on this as I’m worried I’ve had my calprotectin levels back few months ago at 157 but my symptoms disappeared and now there back I keep having constipation lose bowels blood bloody mucus it’s like brown mucus back ache stomach cramps urgency to the toilet not feeling like I’ve emptied my bowels Just had to re peat my stool test see what there like now I’m so worried I’m pregnant at the minute and I can’t have a colonoscopy until I’ve had my baby so I’ve basically got to live in fear for 4 months 😰🤦🏻♀️
Hope your feeling okay and I hope your results come back good
Hi there Your worries are perfectly understandable and it does sound like you have Crones or Ulcerative Colitis but obviously you need to get your results explained to you. I know how scared you must be, but be assured you will get through this. There are many treatments which will help you. I've had UC for over 50 years and it is manageable and you will be able to live a normal life.
Hang on in there, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I had multiple trips to the toilet, watery stools and urgency and blood and mucus in my stools, very tired as lots of sleep disturbance due to getting up and having to go to the toilet. Calprotectin tests weren't done and I have up till now never had one. Diagnosis was made with barium being pumped into my bowel and X Ray's taken. The diagnostic investigations today are much better. My condition wasn't explained to me until I was at an out patient appointment sometime later and a doctor asked me if I knew what was going on in my bowel and he explained it to me.
I was quite young, only 20 and back then I didn't think to question the doctor, we weren't as informed as today and certainly didn't have forums like this.
I urge you to ask as many questions as you need to when you get to see your doctor, don't feel embarrassed, they are there to help you, and you will be better able to handle your condition. In the meantime rest when you need to, don't push yourself to much.
Take care and good luck with the pregnancy that in itself is a marvellous thing to look forward to. Xx
Glad yours is all sorted out for you not nice feeling like that x
Yeah I jus keep having like brown mucus all the time after every bowel movement but mine is strange one day I’ll be constipated the next I’ll back to normal and then again lose bowels
I won’t find out exactly what’s happening until January but it is what it is said they won’t do a colonoscopy while im pregnant it’s far to risky
My next lot of calprotectin isn’t back yet so hopefully Monday I’ll no more then
