Calprotectin levels back up at 1800

Few months ago I had three tooth infections and went on amoxicillin antibiotics three times during this my calprotectin levels came down from 1800 to 610 and 395 which I thought was great 👍 Only now recent test last week they have gone straight back up to 1800 I'm not sure if the antibiotics helped and suddenly now it's increased again due to not needing any more antibiotics. It's all very strange.

My sigmoidoscopy was put on hold till I sort out tooth infections, extractions and root canal 😞

Am now looking to have sigmoidoscopy around June or July.

I'm am being suspected for UC and my daughter has the same thing which we both developed symptoms of at the same time a while ago. We can't eat gluten, dairy, soya and certain vegetables and fruit. It's very confusing and although my calprotectin is raised again I am not having any symptoms of gurgling stomach or diarrhea and bowel bleeding like I used to have but I would the moment I eat gluten or dairy 🤔

Had any one had similar symptoms and if so did antibiotics help??

My son also suffers daily nausea and is being treated for Gerd and is on medication for this, his also came about at the same time as mine and my daughters symptoms which was recently after we moved to the countryside and we had a sickness bug too.

It's extremely strange and very confusing I just hope to eventually get answers when I have my sigmoidoscopy.

I don't know the answer but I would say that antibiotics could have helped. The problem of course is that long term antibiotics is not good. There is every chance with high calprotectin that you have that you will be diagnosed with IBD and that is when you will get the right meds etc to bring down these levels. Good luck on your journey.

As all three of you became ill after moving to the countryside, did your new health practise test you all for anything like Cryptosporidium or other water borne viruses? I also agree with Frasina in that the antibiotics could have helped.
