Hi, I recognize that most likely no one is a doctor here but was hoping maybe someone could perhaps point me in the right direction.
I’m usually pretty good about eliminating certain foods as I already have autoimmune Gastritis and sensitivities. But since Thanksgiving I’ve been eating all kinds of stuff that are dairy and gluten related (fyi) but plan to get back on it as it has caused alot of pain and discomfort and some reoccurring lower abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Since December 23 I have had four episodes of what starts out to be a fine day or so then I get some stomach/ digestive discomfort and bad gas. Usually little bit later more intense pain comes in waves and sense of urgency occurs along with chills and what feels like a heat wave along with nausea and bloating then diarrhea. When this happens i usually end up in tears it hurts so bad.
There doesn’t seem to be a particular food that sets it off so I’m not sure if this is a bacterial infection of the flu? Ihave had an episode a few months ago while we were on vacation (driving unfortunately) and thought it was fecal impaction and that was a horrible experience; these episodes seem to be somewhat similar. I’m assuming I should go to the doctor and would like some options as to what may be happening here.
Thank you in advance!

If you have pain, of any sort, you need to find out why! Any change in bowel habits indicate something is wrong inside! I think you already realise you need to contact your doctor, but just want confirmation. Well, I'll give you that confirmation.... You NEED to CONTACT your DoCTOR. I can't make it any plainer than that.
As far as what is going on inside you, is concerned, it could be anything and nothing, this is why doctors don't generally, guess or anticipate results. The problem with guesswork is, that what works for one thing may well make something else worse, therefore, I won't guess. I will say, though, it may be an idea to return to your previous diet, pending a decision from your medical team. Good luck and keep us informed, or if you have any other questions or suggestions please post.
Hi FReedman, i have a couple questions if thats okay (I’m still waiting for appt, it’s this Thursday with GP). Is it normal for Crohns to have a more normal bowel movements in between diarrhea episodes? Also do you find relief in excluding certain things from your diet?
I, personally, have bouts of constipation (severe), between episodes of diarrhoea, and also find that some foods do upset me more, but, as I have said, many times,,everyone one of us is different with IBS/IBD
