Sigmoidoscopy

Hello I have had sigmoidoscopy found nothing I have ? IBS c also had many other investigations Does any one get left sided lower pelvic pain and sciatica with their IBS ? Been like this for weeks now had a couple of days with no pain and the sciatica went . Weird!

Due a flexible sigmoidoscopy on November 1st 🙁Nervous above and beyond Am opting for no sedation or pain relief and hoping all goes nice and quick and well 🙏 Also praying to get some answers as have been unable to eat normally now for two years and if I do try to eat any gluten,dairy,soya or vegetables

Having recently had both a CT colonoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy to identify why I am experiencing rectal bleeding, I read on the uk cancer research website that this can be a side effect of taking Hydroxy.

No Doctor has ever diagnosed IBS but after a Sigmoidoscopy 3 years ago it was confirmed that it was severe Diverticulitis I was suffering from and no mention of IBS.

Anyway I am booked for a sigmoidoscopy in October and will be given Picolax just wondering how others were with it as gastro has said it's very mild but I have never had it before and getting very nervous about it plus nervous about the sigmoidoscopy as first time and I'm not having sedation either so

I have just had a telephone call about an appointment for a sigmoidoscopy which I was expecting. The secretary said that I had to stop taking Apixaban for 5 days prior to the appointment. I queried this but she said the consultant had requested it.

I am due to see colorectal but they advised a flexible sigmoidoscopy and I'm really anxious about the risks of this procedure. Could it be tight PF from the perineum repair causing this feeling in my rectum? Thanks anyone who can help xxx

Due sigmoidoscopy on Friday morning but just had recent calprotectin back 🙂For a year it stayed at 1800 but now in the space of three months it has dropped down to 610 magically by itself as I have no answers to what has created all this yet 😞 that I hope to find out on Friday 🙂 but I'm just wondering

Also if I move areas in between waiting do I have to have a new consultation before awaiting a new referral for a sigmoidoscopy or will it be sent as the sigmoidoscopy referral straight away without the need for another consultation ?

He has Radiation Proctitis with fairly regular episodes of rectal bleeding ( 6 times in January so far)...He is mildly anemic, low hemoglobin.His gastro doctor just cancelled a sigmoidoscopy due to concerns re heart. He was supposed to get a second APC treatment.

I’ve had it before for a sigmoidoscopy but I can’t remember the timings. I have my pre-op coming up but last week when I spoke to the team they weren’t very helpful.

I did have an mri this year, a biopsy, a sigmoidoscopy and even ultrasound Also bloods on 3 different occasions all clear which must mean at least nothing sinister is going on thanks for all the support, wishing you utmost health, healing and a jolly festive season!

I had a colonoscopy April 2023 and a sigmoidoscopy November 2023. Both clear so I was diagnosed with IBS-c. Currently I’m very constipated but haven’t passed stool only mucus . Yesterday I passed a lot of pink mucus like in photo . Some had more blood on it .

Following the scan, I was quickly referred for a sigmoidoscopy which showed up a sizeable rectal polyp which has now prompted an MRI and a colonoscopy over the next fortnight followed by a TEM op. to remove and biopsy.

Due to bowel symptoms I then had a sigmoidoscopy...so painful with gas and air, then needed a colonoscopy which they initially thought I had IBD because of ulcers and nodules seen but all biopsies came back negative. I also had a endoscopy as well.

The department have no other options - on Sat having flexible sigmoidoscopy and gastroscope - that’s ok , enema, no diet and sedation - shall I risk messing myself up with this on Thursday - or call the colonography off - really anxious, if I have no fibre and take laxative I’m back to potential blockage

He is having a sigmoidoscopy next week to have another APC treatment for the radiation proctitis, still experiencing regular rectal bleeding. Early February, he has a cystoscopy to monitor him for bladder cancer.

Had a flexible sigmoidoscopy in December.

Yesterday had an attempted flexible sigmoidoscopy mid period, saw bruising internal, endo, sigmoid colon so swollen couldn’t get the scope through.

Also so so nervous about the sigmoidoscopy pain so any advice will be so appreciated. Thank you all in advance and stay well and strong.🙂
