Diagnosis of reactivate colitis in 2015🤔

Hi

This is my first time posting on this site, my life as been taking up by my other conditions [ hyperthyroidism/ primary hyperparathyroidism ..my thyroid condition was diagnosed as graves thyrotoxic] lost my full thyroid in 2019, I was then put on levothyroxine T4 which after a number of days effected my bowles.

I had server diarrhea with horrible cramps, bloating and nausea, I was told by my endocrinologist to just continue on the synthetic T4, after around 3wks of sheer hell I again spoke to my endocrinologist, I explained about my reactivate colitis and we're sure something in this pill was causing the reaction in my bowles/ stomach.

Upshot I'd be moved to several synthetic thyroid medication and none worked, same effects in bowles/stomach, I eventually spoke to a gastroenterology dr, he looked over my notes from 2015 where the gastro said my bowles both small and large had significant inflammation inflammatory bowle disease, the length of the inflammation is unusual, but does no show cancer, but does show a large colitic episode therefore this lady as had some form of colitis which appears to be reactive.

She as also tested positive for lactose intolerant, we have discussed a dairy free diet and possible foods or ingestion of certain foods that can cause a inflammatory reaction.

I had a coloscopy done hoping to contact my gastro in 2020

In my pursuit of trying to stomach the T4 levo I tried contacting the gastro who diagnosed me with reactivate colitis after my first coloscopy in 2015, unfortunately he as retired and I spoke to another gastro, who did agree the thyroid medication was perhaps causing the reaction in my stomach/ bowles ...but he saw no indication I had colitis 😮.

Personal I think he is totally wrong, for example when I rolled up for the coloscopy in 2020 I'd stopped the thyroid medication, because I was very unwell and taking that salty mixture just made me vomit, so I had no T4 in my system my bowles felt back to normal, this is what happened when I came off the thyroid medication my bowles feel normal again.

After 5 years of this with the thyroid medication not working because of stomach and bowle issues and lack of absorption and my bloods showing very hypothyroid , I purchased natural dessicated thyroid [ NDT].

I have been on this since July last year and I've had no gastric issues 👌 so can safely say the synthetic thyroid hormone caused my bowles and stomach to become inflamed .

I stick to my dairy free diet and eat what I'm supposed to I can cope, but even keeping on this regime I still from time to time get a run of bad inflammation and diarrhea .

I'm beginning to think...is it auto immune? as my graves was auto immune , I'm saying this because on my discharge from hospital in 2015 my gastro gave my 4 months supply of steroids, I felt great no bowle or stomach problems at all, my energy was fantastic I felt really well, then after the 4 months steroids finished, my fatigue returned server sweating and some pain in my bowles/stomach returned, but I tried to control that with diet.

I do feel I have an auto immune problem ongoing, which gives me horrible body pain bad sweating, some bowle/ stomach issues [ not related to my NDT]

I can feel when I'm going into a flare up, and it's awful 😔

Hello birkie I’m sorry you’re going through so much I don’t have any answers for you unfortunately but I do have colitis and thyroid disease started with graves and then thyroid eye disease and now I’m hypothyroidism so I can empathise how difficult autoimmune conditions are try posting this on the thyroid group as I think you might find someone who can help you with your questions.
