Best run ever today!

I didn't break any time PB's today, nor did I run past any of the seven wonders of the world, but I did run a PB distance. Most importantly though, I just did it, no agonising about the distance, I just did it.

Some of you might remember a while ago Malcy made a comment saying (to the effect of) 'if you can run 6K, then you can run as far as your energy supplies will take you'. This always fascinated me, but I had never tried it. I decided the other day though, to make a big push to run 10k by 31st March (my 1st anniversary). I got up to 6K last week, so set myself the challenge of hitting 6.5K today (0.5K a week). I got up a little earlier today, much to the consternation of Mrs. B., and was out of the door by 6:40 (a bottle of one of those sports drinks inside me). I set off, and felt good, and was in a comfy flow by the 1K mark. Much earlier than normal. And from there it all just went so smoothly, 2K, 3K, 4K, 5K, 6K, and on to 7K. I had to stop then as I needed to be home so Mrs. B could go to work, but I seriously think I could have run on, maybe another K?

I feel so good now. I struggled through the back-end of last year with aches, pains and injuries. But I now have a brilliant Physio/Osteo. and I am truly on the mend. If you had told me 9 months ago that I would be doing this, I would have struggled to believe it, but I am, and I truly loved my run today.

Well done Nerd! That sounds like a great time you just had. I suppose there are days when you just hit your stride, get in the zone, you feel good and everything goes right. I only suppose as it's not happened for me yet. LOL

I bet you'll be grinning all day. I would too!

True enough misswobble, it doesn't happen every day, but when it does you do grin all day. Your day will come :-)

Do you know that's what's it all about really -- just enjoying yourself and feeling good I think sometimes we get too hung up on time and distance They can be good measures on our progress and help us achieve our goals But you can't beat feeling you get when you come home from the ' perfect ' run and think to yourself ' that was fun and I feel great ' Happy running in2014

Really well done - it is very satisfying to push out those distances - I and forgotten Malcy said that. I must remember it when i am out running and I think I can't do anymore - often as not it is mind over matter. 7k looking like a breeze who would have thought it - that 10 k sounds like a cinch now.

Happy running :-)

Thanks.

I really feel I can reach that 10K target now. Just need to work up to it steadily.

Thanks. It certainly isn't easy. I don't think I ever anticipated how many mental hills I would have to climb, but getting up to 7K was a big step. 10K is firmly in my sights.

Yep, sure did love that run. I was mentally psyched up to do more, which seems to have made all the difference.
