I didn't break any time PB's today, nor did I run past any of the seven wonders of the world, but I did run a PB distance. Most importantly though, I just did it, no agonising about the distance, I just did it.
Some of you might remember a while ago Malcy made a comment saying (to the effect of) 'if you can run 6K, then you can run as far as your energy supplies will take you'. This always fascinated me, but I had never tried it. I decided the other day though, to make a big push to run 10k by 31st March (my 1st anniversary). I got up to 6K last week, so set myself the challenge of hitting 6.5K today (0.5K a week). I got up a little earlier today, much to the consternation of Mrs. B., and was out of the door by 6:40 (a bottle of one of those sports drinks inside me). I set off, and felt good, and was in a comfy flow by the 1K mark. Much earlier than normal. And from there it all just went so smoothly, 2K, 3K, 4K, 5K, 6K, and on to 7K. I had to stop then as I needed to be home so Mrs. B could go to work, but I seriously think I could have run on, maybe another K?
I feel so good now. I struggled through the back-end of last year with aches, pains and injuries. But I now have a brilliant Physio/Osteo. and I am truly on the mend. If you had told me 9 months ago that I would be doing this, I would have struggled to believe it, but I am, and I truly loved my run today.
