It'll be fun, they said!

6k today. After my mahoosive hill run, I decided to begin that run today, but backwards, turning the lovely downhill into a big uphill, and then went a different way, which was intermittent up/down before turning round. At this point I'm about 2.5k into my run, so I had a 40-50 metre recovery walk, and began running back and realised how steep some of these short hills I'd just run down were!

I didn't realise how the long hill would take it out of me, and I was out for distance today, so once I'd crested the last hill (ouch. Oooh, so much ouch. You remember the burning gasping feeling in the top of your chest during cross country at school? I got reminded of that today) it was downhill from there for quite some time. There was a small hill, but I managed that and kept on, wanting the magical 6k. By the time I got to the very bottom of the hill I was willing to go to, (I could have gone further down, but then I'd have further to walk home) and turned into a gentle uphill. I ran on, until that wonderful Strava lady told me it was time to stop! Good run, Strava showed me at 7.2k in total, but I know I was running for 6, apart from the walk in the middle for 30 seconds or so. Good run though.

I'm a bl**dy idiot is what I am. I'm actually knackered after that... In the next few weeks I'm going to go somewhere I know is a flat strip and see how far I can go on there. I'm hoping the miles of hills I do will be multiplied on the flat. If I can grind out an extra 2k, I'll be happy.

They build speed and stamina... only test one though!

I'm definitely going for stamina. I doubt I'll ever be fast, and I'm perfectly happy with that.
