Wednesdays run

This morning I was joined by Mrs LeeU again, she was recalled to the hospital yesterday and ended up with less mobility of her thumb when she left the hospital!

We decided to head down to the canal again today for week 7 run 2, we set off running after the usual 5 minute warm up walk, Mrs LeeU struggled a little getting into her stride a little and just over half way through the 25 minutes she had to stop running due to her asthma playing up, she walked for a few minutes and then tried to continue running, she had to stop again.

She did set off a little quickly, 7.5kph, a pace which I know she can't sustain for long, mixed with the cold air, that's probably what triggered the asthma.

She'll try again on Friday, she's a little downhearted about it but I've explained the only failed run is the one you don't do. She was also concerned that it hadn't been much of a run for me, but a run is a run, short or long, anything is better than just sitting there doing nothing.

I'll run with her again on Friday if she's up to it, if not I'll head out on my own, I want to try a long slow run outside and if I'm on my own I'll try a route down the canal again but further than we normally go.

Happy running everyone

She’s doing so well, tell her to be proud that she can run at all, running together is the best

I tell her that I am proud of how far she has got so far and that, even if she feels like she's failed the run that there is no such thing outside of failing to try.

You are totally right, even a bit of running is success

Hope Mrs LeeU is okay now . She is doing really well to push ahead with her running even though she has asthma as some people probably wouldn't try at all. Enjoy your next run 😊😊

She will be in a splint for 4-6 weeks due to her thumb, she was adamant she was running this morning though, I know it's hit her confidence a bit but I'll do my best to build that back up as quickly as I can.

All I ever aim to do on my runs is to enjoy it, that way, it never becomes a chore.

Hope you can run together on Friday but that you can perhaps go on further after Mrs LeeU has had her fill. She is certainly an encouragement to other asthmatics who are unsure about running! You are a great example of supporting another runner albeit your lovely wife😊

If her asthma isn't playing up then yes I would but until I know for certain she's ok I wouldn't venture more than 40-50 feet further down the road.

We may try running around the village we live in to see if it is any better for her.

I've been trying to get my younger brother to start but his only idea of running is when he has a stomach bug.
