The last chapter was dark, and I won’t bother you with much of the detail. It’s been a couple of years since I laced my shoes, and I have missed it way more than I ever thought was possible. I spent yesterday looking at the routes I planned to run but never got round to… and as they’re still saved in Garmin they just need to be done! There’s not a single one of them I’ll be running any time soon, but 2026 could be a lot of fun. I have the comeback scheduled for Sunday, but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist until then.
Back on the first start line now, it’s a strange feeling. The first time I was here I looked at that first run and laughed at how easy it was… and as we all know, it’s not. This time it’s getting my respect 😂
Happy running

Hello UnfitNoMore, not heard from you for ages, so sorry about your last chapter being so dark, that's in the past so you can look forward to the next chapter which will be much much brighter.
As you have not been running for a while you will restart training again with C25K, you've done it before and you will do it again, ok✔️just a reminder to take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, good luck and certainly it's nice to hear from you again
On April 18th in about 3 weeks it will be 7 years since I ran, run 1 of week 1 of C25K so I may do that again for a little celebration, anyway I wish you good luck for your return to this forum.
Nice that junior UNM is still running, do you remember, was it 3 or 4 years ago that you sent me a challenge to do 100 pushups a day, I think it was May 2021, perhaps May 2022, anyway I completed it on time, I still do pushups as part of my exercise regime but not a 100 a day
It is good to see you back again UnfitNoMore . Many of us that started C25k with you many moons ago are still here. You know that the first run is the hardest, but after that I hope you will end it with a big smile on your face, and come back for many more.
Hi there! Didn’t know how many familiar faces I’d see in here. Had a little bit of trouble getting used to HU without the app. Maybe one day they’ll make it smartphone friendly 🤣
It’s good to be back and hopefully I’ll be sharing a trail with you guys again soon.
Yes, there’s still quite a few of us here. I think making it smartphone friendly is a little optimistic 😅 but it’s still here and that’s the important thing.
Absolutely looking forward to meeting up with you again too! All the very best getting back to it 😃
Slow and slower are the only gears I got right now 😂
Really shocked that my resting heart rate is still in the 60s, but I’m not letting that fool me into thinking that the legs are ready for too much too soon… I did that the first time and I don’t miss the knee braces 😂
Some of the stories of us returning graduates is quite sad, we start with great intentions and complete to a fanfare and a new future, just as life gets in the way, I found an excuse to have a break, that was almost 5 years to the day, thought about returning for a fair while and my diabetic nurse wasn't too impressed with my lifestyle. That's when I decided enough is enough and back to the treadmill. Life pops up and my wife has heart surgery, my life's lack of quality seems less important for a few months but seeing my wife on life support knowing I am heading the same way gave me one hell of a kick. Saw out the rest of the year concentrating on her recovery and restarted my C25k journey on the 5th of January, just done my first park run and not planning on stopping this time. Good luck with your journey i think a graduate you are more mentally capable of this.
Welcome back UNM. Great to hear you are returning after a tough time. Funnily enough I have Lexi6 staying with me just now and your name came up in our reminiscences the other day. Good luck!
This applies to my running and exercise but also very much to my turning (and mostly avoiding turning) the page to get back to writing.
I often don't want to go, but I find I feel better after a trip to the gym. I sometimes don't enjoy the actual running (though I frequently do), but I find I feel better after a run.
