I’ve had the Bone Marrow Transplant!!! That was actually the easiest part. 5 hours of fluids leading up to the BMT and the previous 5 days of chemo infusions (day5 was the worst) were much harder. Chemo: Fladarabine -6 thru-2 with addition of Melphalan on day-2.

When you start treatment (chemo) for BMT they count the days like a count down -5, -4, -3… until the BMT is day 0 (zero) then it begins +1, +2 etc. I’m in day plus +2. So far fairly restful days. Although there have been meds and an injection to lower my white blood cells, most of my other counts have even lower as well. Platelets from 265 to 97 as an example. As a result I’m starting to feel slower, less vim and vigor! This is all intended effect for the initial days of chemo.

starting tomorrow and for 3 days I get another regiment of chemo intended to dramatically eliminate my immune system. Chemo: Cyclophosphamide +3,+4, Tacrolimus +5 & Mycophenolate

After Day +5 it’s anticipated to be fairly rough for awhile. At least to days+11 to +14. I’ll let you know.

Last note: my Bone Marrow Biopsy after the O CHOP revealed CD19CD20 and a few other markers were not present. The large cell (Richters) had been eliminated. There was still some CD5, meaning CLL still present. Hopefully this all will be the ticket to clean bill of health, BMT!

The CD5 might not indicate CLL. CD5 is normally on T-cells, but also shows up on CLL. So the flow cytometry test wording has to be read carefully before we can assume CLL. CLL would certainly have CD19, too. I'm hoping you have no CLL at all.
