do the side effects of tacrolimus eventually get better with time ?

I’m 4 years, 7 months past transplant and still working with my Nephrologist to staboliza tacrolimus levels is my bi monthly blood tests. How long post transplant did it take you (if you take tacrolimus)? Suggestions? thanks

My daughter is 3.5 years old and I was on tacrolimus during my pregnancy (I usually take MMF). I remained relatively well and stable throughout but there were alot of issues with maintaining the tacrolimus concentration and adjusting the dose.

I am on 5mg/daily prednisone after my kidney transplant 4 years ago, in addition to tacrolimus and mycophenolate. The prednisone causes my skin to thin so much that the slightest touch creates a nasty purple bruise.

I want to know if anyone has had this and if getting off cellcept and/or tacrolimus reversed it?

It would appear that the tacrolimus anti-rejection medication alters the way the Hepatocytes in the liver process sugars. This in turn can lead to a buildup of stored glucose which is later turned into fatty acids.

This obviously explains my hydroxichloriquine, prednisone and need to tacrolimus in my transfers but there isn't much information online about how this is managed outside of ivf for fertility. Has anyone been diagnosed with this and had a natural bfp? What treatment or meds did you take?

My tacrolimus was stopped and I was started on belatacept. My eGFR improved but is still only 34. I am diabetic and have fungal skin infections and would like to stop my 5 mg prednisone. I am also on Mycophenolate . Has anyone been able to stop prednisone while on belatcept?

I am 72 and have been told I am too old for tacrolimus. I am currently on prednisone. I want to come of these as I feel really unwell with various symptoms. What treatments are there left for me

I am on Tacrolimus and colchicine

He needs: Tacrolimus 1 mg (5x) Azathioprina 50 mg (8x) Prednisona 20 mg (4x) We can’t get these in the States fast enough as we are not in any way enrolled in the health care system. We are in the Denver area. Please reach out if you can help.

He is currently on 3mg Tacrolimus x 2, 1000mg mycophenolate x 2, 5mg pred. Thanks Ewife

Already been back to Addenbrookes for Tacrolimus levels check and full blood counts. So far counts are still rising and long may that continue. I have scheduled weekly appointments for blood counts and Hickman dressing changes for about the next 6 weeks.

I had a transplant 18 months ago and 6 days ago the hospital reduced my Tacrolimus and increased my Prednisolone to improve my kidney function (although it was no worse than it has been since the transplant).

I got my monthly blood work and my tacrolimus levels (which had been normal) doubled. They think that it was taking the Clotrimazole. So it was a drug interaction that caused it. Anyone else have any issue like this?

Tacrolimus anti rejection drug reduced from 6 to 3 per day. 8/22 blood test showed BKV at 1.881 whereas it was negative on 8/1 blood test.

The immunosuppressives I’m on are tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil . Recently have been woken with itching but as there is no associated rashes, they don’t believe this represents Graft versus Host disease (GvHD).

Monday they told be to hold the Tacrolimus, which helps to prevent GVHD ( graft vs host disease). Suspicion was it was Tacro was causing the side effects. As a result on Wed. They substituted Tacro with Sirolimus. Sirolimus is often used after kidney transplants.

I got my kidney transplant in dec 2018 now In nov 2024 suffered from NON hodgkin lymphoma now only on tacrolimus 5mg daily .Any advice regarding this then plz
