Viibryd and Dopamine

I had been trying to switch to Viibryd from Effexor. I had made it about 3 weeks when everything went down in flames. Anxious beyond measure and fast heart rate. Just a 24/7 anxiety show. My doctor said she has had patients do well for a few weeks then it stops working if it’s not a good fit. She said I have too much dopamine in my system causing the anxiety and heart palpitations.

I am cutting the viibryd back so I can try Zoloft since I have more anxiety than depression.

Has anyone else had viibryd or any other antidepressant create too much dopamine? I of course used Dr google and the side effects so match with what she is saying. I just wondered if anyone else had this and how long it took to get out of your system. I am only on day 2 but still having the racing heart and anxiety. I know 2 days isn’t near enough time.

My anxiety is taking over and telling me I have something wrong with my heart. Even though the Dr wasn’t concerned and by blood pressure is fine.

Hey there! I have tried both Effexor and Viibryd, and had those symptoms as well. I think that most medications will change your body and cell response, but I believe firmly that our bodies find a new homeostasis with the medication and we become "used" to it. I went through that with my recent change to Zoloft, and now that my body has gone through the serious side effects, I feel good and pretty chill.

I know that many cases are not typical, but I think I would give it some time.

I am a little concerned to try another med. I know these kinds of drugs are hard on the system. To be weaned off Effexor, start Viibryd, wean off Viibryd and start Zoloft in a little over a month is a lot of change on my system. For an anxious hypochondriac all that comes with a lot of side effects and countless scenarios I can overthink. Thanks for your input, Zoloft has worked good for you now? Never been on it but that is what is next for me.
