I just can’t seem to relax when it comes time to going to sleep. I lay down and just can’t relax, I immediately feel like I can’t breathe and feel trapped at home. I have to jump up, move around most times even go outsides. Takes about an hour to calm down.

when I do fall asleep I wake up in such a panic I can’t relax

The work of Dr Harry Barry is a great place to start, he has a lot of fantastic advice about how to get back on track. drharrybarry.com/resources/

It's so hard when you cannot sleep and you know it is your brain and thoughts that are causing it. In the end you dread going to bed and that causes negative thoughts '' why do I bother I know I will lay there awake'' I have no solution but just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one and probably like me would love to go to bed, go straight to sleep and not wake until morning. I wish!

Yes very true. Are you getting any help from a doctor to get you into a place where you can start to turn things around? If not i'd make an appointment straight away.

I was in your situation (and yes it is horrible) and I can tell you that if you get help there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I am like a Dr Harry Barry evangelist I want everyone to know about his work because I wish someone had told me about it 20 years ago. I don't mind being a broken record 😁

For me it was 50 years ago ! No help then just "pull yourself together think of something else " and shame for having anxiety He's amazing and has been such a help to me

We must keep preaching 😄

do you know about two years My Son was doing the same thing my he went through a break up. He moved into his own apartment. He’s an IT engineer and he’s really super busy and being out in his own apartment without roommates or somebody around he was all alone so more time to think. So his solution what he did I know because anxiety and panic attacks and all kinds of stuff from 1985 and I still have anxiety and that almost daily. Go to your doctor and ask him what he thinks about Lexapro that’s what My Son took like 10 mg. I’ve Lexapro, and till he got himself grounded, good which was about six or eight months, and then he talk to the doctor and started weaning off it, and he starting a little anxiety and that again, but he started working out and getting busy and that again and it’s been about a year now and he’s doing really super good and he’s not on anything just realized after you go to the doctor just realize that it’s anxiety and it don’t feel good. It’s scary as hell.

I appreciate all the replies

Did go to the doctor. I have two medications now one will take 6-8 weeks to get started and I increase my dose every two weeks.

The second is a quick release I can take up to 5 times a day.

I truly appreciate everyone’s responses, initially when no one responded, per usual my anxiety told me it was just me and I was alone.

I appreciate everyone’s time I know it’s precious

trazodone has helped me get to sleep and stay asleep. Other sleep hygiene includes going on screen an hour before bed, exercising at least an hour before going to bed, stretching in bed. Not going to bed until you think you can fall right asleep. Things that help me get out of my brain is ambient sleep music or audiobooks. My partner has to have a window wiper if possible, especially if it’s raining. My kids do better with a weighted blanket.
