Hello. Well I am persevering with fluoxetine. I’m coming into week 5. It’s not been easy. My main problem has been my anxiety has sometimes escalated. I can manage other side effects. I have been so close to coming off them. I believe week 6 things start to improve any words of encouragement please x

Hi Black16, if you have made it this far, try not to give up on something

that may be the answer for you. Medications can take from 4- 6 weeks

to take full effect. However, if the dosage has been raised during that time,

you may need a few more days for the brain to adjust.

Keep in touch with your doctor who knows your medical history and will

see you through. Break throughs can be expected., Good Luck to you :) xx

Hi Agora1 thank you for replying. I know I did think that. I’ve come so far now i definitely won’t give up. I have been on 20mg since day 1. I’m sure things will settle down soon.

Thank you so much for your support ❤️ xx

Hi Black16 you are nearly there. Don't give up. Try to focus on anything else until you reach the 6-8 weeks that the meds can take to have their full effect. You can decide what to do at that point and you might find that you don't need to do anything because the fog is starting to lift. Wishing you peace health and a fast recovery.

Thank you so much Jameshuh. I am definitely persevering, I walk and run to occupy my mind and that really helps. I have heard 6-8 weeks is a turning point so fingers crossed. It has been tough at times. Thank you for your message it really helps and gives me hope. Sending happiness and good health to you 🥰

hello,

I would give the fluoxetine the 6-8 weeks to work. Maybe you could ask your psychiatrist if you could go up on the dosage. Hang in there. I hope that this medication works for you.

Hello. Thank you so much for your reply. Most people seem to say at 6-8 weeks you do feel a real difference. It just seems so long when you feel awful. I will see how I feel then. I’m hoping I don’t have to up the dosage. Aw thank you again for the support, it helps to know you’re not on your own xx

you are not alone. I’ve dealt with major depression for over 30 years. I’ve taken over 30 different antidepressants and maybe 4 worked.

6-8 weeks is hard but you can do it. It feels so great if the meds work. Praying that this one works for you. 🙏😊
