fluoxetine

I have decided to take the tablets prescribed by the doctor. I have tried everthing not to. Sertaline and amitriptyline both gave me awful side effects and felt no better. I am on day 5. Felt a bit shaky today but ok otherwise. I would be grateful for any positive feed back on fluoxetine. I have had anxiety for years but not depression

My experience was that it gave me my life back. I took it for a while and then came off it. I was on the lowest dose and that was enough. It meant I could live life as normal and I was actually quite productive when on it. Wishing you peace and health.

Hiya James thank you so much for that. It really reassures me. I’m only on the first week and still feel anxious but I know it’s early days. I hope you’re keeping well xxx

Where you have been is probably not much fun either.😆

Hi. I have taken this drug for most of the past 26 years. It was a miracle for my depression and anxiety, plus taking away daily tension headaches. At this point I really don't know how much it is doing for me, and am trying something new for anxiety. I was so afraid of and against taking it. I didn't think it could help me, but so glad I took the risk. For me, I've not experienced any side effects that I know of.

Thank you for replying. I don’t seem to have much luck with anti depressants. They seem to make me more hyper, I get the shakes and they scare me a bit. I’m such an anxious person these side effects make me worse x

I'm wondering if the person who has been prescribing these drugs for you is knowleagable about them. In some people, fluoxetine can have that affect. Also, if your only problem is anxiety, maybe something like Buspirione would be en

I do wonder that myself. Thank you so much. I haven’t heard of that one x

It is commonly prescribed for Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I am actually trying it now.

Thank you for replying. I do seem to be prone to side effects to certain meds. I am persevering though. I know it’s only early days. I do a lot of exercise and have a healthy diet. I probably need ro reduce my alcohol if anything xxx

Hello Carrotsticks thank you so much for checking in on me x I’m on day 13 and have got what feels like internal shakes and find it hard to sleep as I keep getting adrenal surges if that makes sense. I am at the doctors tomorrow so we shall see. How are you doing xxx

I'm still getting the adrenaline surges. They hit me several times a night and a little in the day. Last about an hour. Horrendous so I really feel for you. How stopping just 4 x 25mg doses of sertraline can do this is beyond me so I'm starting to wonder if there is another cause. I'd have thought after 9 days it would be out of my system. Good luck for tomorrow with GP and if you decide to carry on I really admire you because those surges are horrible.

Oh no are you. You poor thing x They are awful aren’t they. I find I get them on most antidepressants. I did with sertraline and amitriptyline. I wonder if it’s due to serotonin. If you have too much it says you can feel like this. I find exercise really helps I don’t seem to get them as much once I’ve been out for a walk or run. I would have thought after nine days you would see an improvement certainly after only taking them for 4 days but some of these side effects can take a little longer. I’ve still got muscles twitches after taking amitriptyline for 6 weeks. Take care and I hope they soon subside. Xxx
