Claire weeks method

Hi I was wondering I believe there are some people that advocate the Claire weeks method. And would like to get someone to explain exactly how you do the acceptance method. Easy to understand but hard to put into practice. And what their experience with the methods was?

Hello moggie8 I have bought so many books over the years hoping to find that "magic cure" but the one I always go back to is always Claire Weekes "Self Help For Your Nerves"

I am old enough to remember her as a TV doctor giving advice I found watching her so comforting

The acceptance for me is to look at the symptoms allow them to come over me and never fight them

If I have a cold or pain I accept that I will "suffer" symptoms but I know I'll get better I will be kind to myself but with anxiety I used to fight against the symptoms trying to "pull myself together" telling myself I have to stop this

I have always felt ashamed that I suffer from anxiety there is that stigma so I have always fought against the feelings Now things thankfully have changed so much and we don't have to fight anymore

If you can accept the horrible feelings know that they are uncomfortable -unpleasant - BUT that's all they are they can't hurt you the" what ifs" that you feel will happen in your mind never will then I promise you you will gradually lose your fear of them

It's adrenaline that surges around your body it always follows the same pattern and always dies down

It sounds so simple I know but it DOES work lose your fear and you will be well

It will take time but it will work,it has for me and I have been so poorly with anxiety for many years

Oh thankyou it's so hard to put into practice. My symptoms never die down. Did you find it hard to function. My symptoms light headed blurred vision body tension and head pressure. I don't get palpitations as I'm not scared of them.Yes that was my cat. I offered wondered how by allowing your symptoms could end up you losing your fear.?
