Hi everyone, does anybody else have ectopic beats constantly through out the day and night. My heart will beat fast then calm down then I have a pause and thud about five times then it goes back to normal. It's horrible and makes me so anxious I start to panick. Iv had ecg and echocardiogram and they say results are fine but it's ruining my life. Please help x
Ectopic beats : Hi everyone, does anybody... - Anxiety Support
Ectopic beats
Yes I have the same problem horrible
Have u ever had yours checked out? Do you get many. I get so nervous doing things now incase it triggers one off x
Yes I’ve had the same tests as you and same response back ! Yea I can get lots and they are currently stopping me living a normal life as I don’t want to go out incase I get them bad ,
I sympathise... I can't do 90% of the things I used to do because of them, I can't see how there normal when I never had them before. They keep saying it's apart of anxiety but if I didn't have these I wouldn't be anxious. I get so dizzy and out of breath it's scary
Yes I got anxiety bad when all these started ur entitled to get a 2nd opinion and if your feeling dizzy with them I would definitely see gp what I will say though the more you focus on them the worse they will get I know it’s so difficult though
Yeah I think I will get second opinion actually, even just for piece of mind. I try so hard to not dwell on them and be normal but then out the blue boom my heart pounds and then starts skipping beats and that's it, I'm freaking out 😭🙈 do you get any symptoms with yours?
Me!sometimes I go days with only a few and then other times(like today) I have them every few minutes.today I have a random thud or flutter and then a weird warm feeling through me.ive suffered these for years and years but they still scare me so much!your not alone!
Aw I get that rush feeling aswell it's weird... It starts in my throat but it quickly shoots through my whole body and that's it its like a two second rush. I'm so pleased u can relate the doctors think I'm going mad... I get them lieng in bed, through the day. I tried propranolol but that didn't stop them at all x
Hello Sap..my heart goes out to you! I have gone to the ER for skipped heartbeats. They horrified me. I have to say I was very stressed at the time they happened. I live in an apt bldg and my upstairs neighbor was out of control with the noise. The Dr hooked me up and did all the tests and said your hearts fine. We have to believe it. They did go away, but I’m so worried they will come back, I feel like I’m going to bring them on! I take a diuretic that can deplete potassium. It can cause skipped beats it I don’t get it everyday. Maybe have your electrolytes checked. Magnesium etc. It’s so good to know, we are not alone. It’s such an out of control feeling. My breathing gets affected. Like my heart and breathing are not in sync. I take CBD oil and it’s good for anxiety. I think it’s a mind thing. We have to talk to it and say you’re not gonna ruin my day. I say it out loud. Hope you find some relief. I’m trying to stay off meds. Sorry post is so long. I’m here if you wanna talk. ❣️
Thank you for ur reply. Yes it is definitely ruining my life at the minute too. I don't know how many times iv been to AnE recently... I wouldnt say I'm stressed but I certainly am now 🙈 what do u take the magnesium for. Is it prescribed? My breathing is very laboured to i get very out of breath and go so dizzy to. Its a horrible feeling but ur very right it's more scary the fact we can't control when it happens. I won't so anything to physical incase it triggers so guess who's put on weight 🙋♀️ it's never ending x
If you're a teenager it's normal. I used to get all kinds of weird stabbing pain, heavy beats, and fast beats. If you drink alot of coffee, take supplements, dont sleep enough, and stress, than its a recipe for palpitations. I'm 22 now and they've seem to calm down alot.
I have been plagued with these absolute horrors from March last year! I’m 32 F and they just started out of the blue! Never had any heart issues in my life, I’ve had numerous ecgs, holter monitors and seen a cardiologist, currently waiting on an echo but with all this covid 19 stuff I’m not sure when and it’s caused me a significant amount of anxiety which means I’m having these paused beats almost all day and night it’s debilitating!! I totally resonate with you! I’m not myself and have stopped doing everything as anything and nothing triggers them!! I couldnt even leave the house for months my anxiety got so bad as I couldn’t handle the feeling of my heart “ pausing” it’s horrendous. You are not alone in this trust me! I’m still debilitated
As much as Its horrible to go thru its nice to have someone who can relate to u. Mine have been extremely bad past few weeks with all this covid 19 news aswell... I prayer its over soon as my therapy sessions at the rvi are cancelled due to it... I wss so fit and healthy and nor I'm like an 80 year old woman. I hope yours settle down soon x
How you feeling now?
Not great! I just cannot get my head to the “mind over matter” headspace. These pacs cripple me! Some days I won’t feel any and it’s glorious and I think I’ve been cured and days like today I will get a massive pause like feeling and a jolt of nervousness out of the blue driving the car out of all things no stress very calm.
I cannot get to grips with this at all, had an echo last Thursday and the radiographer told me it looked good.
So I will be discharged from the cardiologist and expected to just live my life with these frequent pacs and get on with it. It’s affecting every part of my life including work as it’s worse when a shot of adrenaline hits
Yes, I have this issue but is mostly resolved.
Here is what I did:
1. Made sure I was well hydrated - this made the MOST difference, for me.
Besides plain water, Powerade was my go to. Once I was about halfway through the bottle, my PVC's (ectopic beats) almost cimpletely resolved.
2. I had a thorough cardiac workup (which you've had) which put my mind at ease that nothing was wrong with my heart.
3. I got help for my anxiety (and depression). I started therapy 2x a month and also went on some meds to treat those issues (lamictal for depression/gabapentin for anxiety)
Medication might not be necessary for you, but the therapy piece is key.
If you don't have insurance, research some no or low cost therapy in your area.
4. Sometimes a vasovagal maneuver can help - bear down as hard as you can and hold your breath for at least 10 seconds of you can. Or, try coughing very hard.
Both of these can 'reset' the beats.
I hardly get the extra beats, pauses or thumps anymore.
When I do, usually hydration does the trick.
Hope this is helpful!!
I will definitely try some especially the vasovagal move I've heard that Is really helpful. Thank you x
