Does a normal echo mean my heart is healthy and structurally sound? I developed pretty severe anxiety and panic disorder back when I was 16 years old from a workout supplement I was taking causing me my first panic attack and caused my ptsd from triggering my episodes literally everyday up until I started workout again and eating better. The main focus has always been around my heart I’ve had countless EKG’s all normal at the er. The skipped heart beats are what scared me then and still scare me now I literally get the skipped beats or flutters I’ll check my pulse in my neck and feel it stop for a second and return to normal. I used to feel them everyday multiple times an day and eventually the doctor performed a stress test in the office and also referred me to a cardiologist for an echo and 30 day event monitor which all came back normal and they went away for the most part because I felt at peace knowing I was okay and got back into exercising again. However to this day I’m now 28 years old and I still get them every now and then randomly if I’m relaxing or if I’m excited about something does. I was literally just last on my back watching tv and got the flutters randomly not having anxiety or anything. Any of this sound familiar I just need peace of mind to go on with my life. Is anyone else going through this or has in the past.

skipped heart beats and flutters
Anyone?
Hi KIngchris, I too use to get the skipped beats and flutters. It was very disturbing
to me and frightening. Like you I had it checked out both in the ER as well as
my doctor's office. I had seemed to develop a phobia about my heart. No amount
of reassurance seemed to help me settle down. Until one day, the cardiologist looked
me straight in the eyes and assured me that I was okay. Nothing was wrong with my
heart except for my anxiety over it.
I was told to get into an exercise program and joined the aquatics class at the hospital
pool. That is where I also learned the importance of hydrating. Water is essential
in allowing our blood to flow freely. When we get dehydrated, we tend to get more
flutters and skipped beats.
Exercise helps with providing the body with good amounts of oxygen as we learn
to breathe more deeply and exhale in a more relaxed state.
I am over those days now, once I accepted that I was okay. I now do daily Meditation
and Breathing exercises as well as drink enough water during the day.
I hope this helps reassure you some in that you will eventually be okay too. xx
They are ectopic beats, perfectly harmless. I’ve had them for over 50 years and I’m still here:):):)🥰 The more thought you give them the more it will happen.. when you feel them ignore it and know they are “harmless”.. I’m a retired Emergency Department RN and I’ve had them all of my life:):):🥰
thanks both you guys! agora Dixie9326

Good evening. I'm sorry for what you're dealing with, but I can empathize with you. I also have this issue and my anxiety revolves specifically around this. I've had them since I was a teen as well but I'm now in my 40s. Recently I've become hyperfocused on that and my heart rate. It's exhausting. I've had two of those event monitors this year. Just took off the second one to ship tomorrow. I've been to ER multiple times and tons of testing and they all say it's fine. It's terrifying. I wish this post was to give you some comfort. I hope we can at least take solace in the fact that we are not alone.
Hi--I ave had Heart Palpitations since I was 9 years old. I am now going on 72. These skipped beats come with no rhyme or reason throughout the years and many times I know why they are there. My parents took me to the local Doctor when I started to have them. Sometimes my heart would beat so fast it would basically paralyze me. The rapid beats would last any where from a minute to an hour! Once it stopped , I felt like I was in heaven. In between all of this over the last 60 years, they have come and gone. Sometimes rapid heart beats and many times skipped beats. I have been through all the tests. EKGS, Echo, Heart Monitor, Stress test, etc. All came back with the same word "Normal". I did suffer an episode of anxious depression about 25 years ago and was put on Prozac and Xanax. It took about 6 months but I finally got back to normal. Even the rapid heart beats and skipped beats were reduced. I retired about 2 years ago and now they are back again. Once again, I can usually calm them when I am still (like now) but they still scare me to death. I have a fairly normal life and keep busy and have a family history of depression. Just thought I write my story and let anyone who have suffered through what I have gone through for basically 60 years that you are not alone. People talk about A-Fib and Ablations curing these but I don't think I am in A-fib since I have had passed all the heart tests as recently as 6 months ago and frankly even thinking about A-Fib makes me more stressed! My father lived until 100 so I figure I only have to last this out for about 30 more years. LOL!
