I've been noticing that almost everytime I get heart palpitations and/or ectopic beats I'm also having a very worried/bloated stomach. It feels very irritated and almost hurts just below the ribcage. I can clearly hear "gases" sounding from that area. Sounds like when you're really hungry and your stomach decides to demonstrate whalesongs.
Are there any known connections? Anybody else experiences this?

Hi Agora1! I've been reading up on this topic for a couple of days now and apparently this is a fairly common problem for people who experience a bloated stomach. Not many doctors seem to know about this connection.. I'm getting more and more ectopic beats everyday and I'm starting to think that my stomach is the cause. But my doctor won't listen to me, and just keeps repeating, "don't worry, it's just anxiety". But I know myself, and the type of weird beats that I'm getting now is nowhere near the ones I get when being overly anxious, so I don't know what to do at this point..
Yeah it's very irritating.. I've been thinking about that. Will probably find another doctor who understands me better.
Wow I never would have guessed that chewing gum was the no. 1 issue, but I'm glad to hear that it solved the problem for you! Thank you! Hopefully I will.
For many years I had " skipping" and it felt like a pony was inside my chest kicking to get out.
I was young and got a full work up for my heart , a few times.
Fast forward MANY years, and I have come to find out that 90% of my heart irregularities are from my gut. I am not allergic to any foods but sensitive to many.
It was the biggest relief for me to find this out.
It is completely normal for a portion of the population to have this, and a soda, or a milkshake or eggs could set it off, immediately or in 5 hours.
With that said, it get's your attention, but it is not harmful.
I recognize that feeling so well! It really feels like someone is kicking me in the chest! How did you find that out if I may ask? I'm starting to suspect that my stomach may be the cause, but I'm guessing the anxiety has to do with it as well.
That's the biggest problem for me. I'm not convinced that it isn't harmful. Keep thinking that the doctors haven't registered it during all my ecg's, and that it might be harmful after all..
Thank you for your answer! It's a good feeling knowing you're not alone. But at the same time, I wouldn't wish this on anybody. It's truly awful..
