Hi, how does a person find a good Therapist? I have been to a string of disappointing people who claim to be a Therapist or Counselor. I felt I was making progress with the last one, when he stood up in a session and said he did not give a rat’s a$$ if I ever have another panic attack or drink myself into a coma. I left and never went back. Before that incident I felt I was connecting with him ok.
Other ones I have been to fall asleep, text on their phone, or appear to daydream. One did not have an office and we had to meet in a public place.
Help.
Thanks.

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry about the horrible experiences you've had! My recommendation is to keep trying to find a good one and never give up. I've had painful experiences with some too and I've cried with so much sadness. But we need to keep trying to do what is best for us. It hurts a lot that some therapists hurt you instead of understanding you and caring about you. I just can't understand how some therapists are the opposite of what they should be and I wish horrible therapists would get in trouble for doing horrible jobs. I am sorry that you've had it so bad! Keep trying! Keep trying! Ask God to bless you! We all need that God helps us in everything. Don't give up! Seek help and ask God to provide blessings. Some things in our lives require hard work and getting better is worth all the necessary hard work. I wish you the best!
The counselor who told you he didn't care about you should have been reported to his professional organization. That was inexcusable. If you think you've been dealing with uncaring quacks, Google "mental health care providers in my area" to find qualified professionals. I believe the Psychology Today website has good info. Best to you! ❤️
