Don't Know what to do

In recent weeks I have been finding my depression has been getting worse. I had an appointment with my therapist and she felt it was the PTSD causing the depression. Last week I had several events happen in which I could see it was the PTSD and the anxiety was sky high. Over the weekend I took it easy and did some things with friends and started to feel better. Today the depression is probably the worse I have ever experienced. I can't focus on anything, every muscle feels like it weighs a ton and it takes so much effort to do simple tasks. I just feel totally numb. I do have an appointment with the therapist on Saturday but this is Monday. I also have a call into her due to one of the events last week that caused me to have panic attacks. I talked to the psychiatrist last week about the panic attacks and he gave me some suggestions. I have done them but then today the depression just grew worse and worse as the day progressed. Does anyone have any other suggestions until I can see and/or talk to the doctors? I am starting to get the feeling to cut again and I haven't done that in several months.

Go and get some puzzles, word puzzles or something like saduko. Something you can focus on that will break the constant depressing thoughts. I like number puzzles. Now that you know what your dealing with PTSD the answers will come.

You're right. I should be doing some crossword puzzles instead of playing video games. That allows the depressing and negative thoughts to continue.

Video games can increase anxiety due to there competitive nature. You need to do hobbies that are more relaxing and fulfilling. Time will heal your depression. Time removed from the events that have caused your ptsd.

You're right. Today when I got home from work, instead of playing video games on my cell phone I start drawing again. That was definitely better than just vegging out on the games with the TV on. Thanks for responding.

Is that your dog in the picture?

I do have a dog but that isn't mine. That was just a picture I was able to use when I set up my profile here.

Cool. Had to ask. I had a Lhasa Apso for fifteen years.

My dog is a Havanese-Poodle mix and he is my special needs dog. He has anxiety and probably ADHD although he has finally started to settle down some at almost 9 years old. He has been on Zoloft for years. As he has aged he has become more fun. He is so incredibly smart, which I think was also part of his problem.

Lol they bring so much joy to life with their personalities. My Lhasa was with me when I was agoraphobic. My parents would kid around and say she was agoraphobic too because she was with me all day. She was smart too. She would wait till my parents were asleep and sneak upstairs to sit up with me. If either of my parents would get up to use the bathroom she would bolt out of my room and sit outside the bathroom door and wait for my parent to get out and act like she was there the whole time. Then as she got older she was afraid of thunder. She would run upstairs, jump on my bed, and wake me up so I could sit with her until it stopped thundering. She was such a great companion.

I know what you mean. Nicholas has really been a great companion as has my cat Oliver. Lately with the anxiety so bad I often hold them while I sleep in bed. In fact the cat doesn't like it if I don't go sleep in bed for several nights. There isn't enough room on the couch for the three of us and he wants to sleep with me also. They always seem to know when I need them close by because the anxiety or depression has gotten bad. Then they stick beside me until I start to improve again.

Lol 😂 does the cat get back at you for not sleeping in the bed? My Lhasa had a way of getting revenge. She would steal my socks or take my slipper if she was mad with me. She would put them in her bed and then if I tried to retrieve them she would sit on them. It was a fight. Eventually I would get my stuff back. When she wasn’t looking I would grab it and run.

Oh most definitely. Oliver will start to get up on the kitchen counters and knock anything he can off. Then I have to get up and get it before the dog gets a hold of it and chews up the item. Then my sleep for the night ends up being awake, asleep, awake, asleep. It isn't a very restful night. By morning I realize why he was doing all of that and I make sure I sleep in bed the next night. They are smart alright.

Lol they have a way of getting what they want. It’s like he is saying to you. If you don’t want to sleep in the bed I can do this all night. It’s your choice. If you were in the bed I wouldn’t be on the counter. I never had a cat. My family always had dogs.
