Last week i received an email offering me an expensive perfume if i answered the quiz correctly, which i duly did and i only had to pay £2 for delivery, which again i did.
However, the next day I received their terms of service only to discover they would be taking £40 from my account every 2 weeks for goodness knows how long, and i felt physically sick.
I sent 5 emails to cancel expressing my anger in no uncertain terms, to which they never replied.
By now i was a blithering wreck and i called a friend of mine to help me out, meanwhile i contacted my bank asking them to block any payments to this wretched company, and they said they couldn't do that but then put me on hold to another arm of the bank, and after waiting more that 2 hours i gave up. My friend arrived and he tried to calm me down and again we phoned the bank and we decided to delete my debit card and they would send me a totally new card hoping this will prevent any further payments. So far i am praying this will do the trick, but it has shattered my nerves really badly, and i am still reeling from this encounter.
Yes i should have known better but its so easily done, i can do without this and i'm concerned how many more have been conned. Thank God i read the small print.🥵

Omg ! I'm so sorry to hear what's happened to you Secrets. Please don't blame yourself- it could happen to any one of us- these scanners are so plausible these days .
Yes it's scary how easily this can be done.
I've got to the point now where I suspect everything and everybody unless they're known to me personally . Even then that's not foolproof. It really annoys my husband but he's so trusting.
Have you reported them to Action Fraud ?
I'm sure stopping the card will have done the trick , and they won't take any payments before the next one is due . Worth checking regularly if you have online banking.
So sorry this happened to you. It seems like you can’t trust anything these days. Good catch though reading the fine print, that’s how these companies get you. What were they going to give you for taking payments out every 2 weeks?
The oldest daughter here works with the bank fraud department.... the only sure way to stop payments is to use your ATM card three times in a row...it locks out your account, then you have to open a new account unfortunately...but your money is safe from any future intrusions.
Ouch , these so called " offers " are always to good to be true, I don't open any dodgy emails or enter any competitions, the was these companies work are relying on you not to read the small print. The worst one I came across was a company called " complete save " a truly vile company, they piggyback onto your bank account by ticking a box for terms and conditions, my friend got caught out by them and she had to change her bank card, she thought she was ordering her food shopping on a tesco website, they also use different other companies like Debenhams, and the train line app.
Have a look on trust pilot about complete save and you'll see they are a rouge company skimming £38 from people's bank accounts, truly horrible the way they snatch people's money, I even got a reply from Martin Lewis about them and he said that he got them removed from various sources, but I took a screenshot and told him they were still upto their devious tricks, but obviously he didn't reply back, which was disappointing,
it’s so upsetting isn’t it when these things happen, I’m like Mad bunny, I dont trust any of them , if something sounds too good to be true it usually is, if anything like this happens stop your cards with the bank straight away, and they’ll send you new ones.
Yes I agree. I have been tempted several times to go for something but now always check out if they are a scam. There is one going around now about buying a cd with certain music on promising if you listen to it for 7 days for 10 minutes a time it will unlock your theta wave. They even use false endorsements from celebs.
Hi, I’m so sorry you got caught out but thankfully you realised straight away. I’m another one who doesn’t trust cyberspace at all. So many scammers, the blackmail ones are the worst.
