Has anyone gotten chest pains as a side effect to taking prozac. I started it today and my chest is killing me. I've taken literally everything else, hospitalization, ECT, TMS and ketamine. It's my last hope. I need it to work. I've been very suicidal and bad Anxiety. Can anyone help please, I'm desperate for help. I started it today and my chest is killing me, I want to cut it out with a kitchen knife. Nothing else works, I want to die, but I can't bc I have a 12 year old son I adore, it would kill him, ruin his life. I need this to work, has it happened to anyone or hear of it? Does it go away?
I'm supposed to enter a residential treatment facility next week and I can't have this.
Thank you
I've had serious chest pain for 24 straight hours, not mild bits here and there. I didn't sleep last night and haven't even taken my pill this morning bc I haven't gotten the smaller dose yet. And I can't get a hold of my Dr bc of the holiday. But if I don't take it I won't be on any regular antidepressants.

Hi Josh, did you call your doctor or pharmacist or ER? They would best be able to advise you. Please do that now if you haven't already. Please write back.
I actually talked to my psychiatrist. His take was that the prozac is probably very activating at first for me so he lowered the dose. It still makes me a little nervous. My problem is, I've taken every ssri and snri now, seroquel, Zyprexa, Mirtazipine and wellbutrin. I won't take a tricyclic or maoi. I've taken everything. I'm screwed.
Where did you see that? I couldn't find any website that mentioned chest pain is a side effect. Plus it really did a number to my head. It's almost 10pm and my head still feels like it's underwater.Do you know anything else, like how long the effect lasts? Have you been on prozac? But I also need to be functional, with the way my head has been today I most certainly was not functional. I could barely write my name.
I was on Prozac for quite a long time and never had chest pain or any side effects and I am very medication sensitive. Please call your Dr. as this could be something more serious.
If your chest pain persists, I would go to the ER, in case it is something more serious. I, too, was on Prozac for several years(years ago) and never had a problem, but everyone reacts differently. Glad to hear you have a date scheduled to enter the treatment center. I wish you the best!
I have have had occasional chest pain while on Prozac. As everyone else has said, maybe lowering the dose will help. I am on the lowest possible dose. Also, please get evaluated by your physician to rule out other, more serious causes of your chest pain. I hope you get can get help at the residential treatment facility. Sometimes getting away from it all does wonders to reset your mind.

Hey there. Could it be heartburn cause that could be treated possibly? If not, I would see if you could do a virtual visit or find an after hours number or call another doctor. Best of luck. Or the emergency room is what I would do.

Oh. The pharmacist. That's a good idea too. They are very smart! This is very serious sounding.
I just read you did get it lowered. Hang in there. You are loved and valued. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes and thoughts.
My pain has pretty much subsided, but it took almost 2 weeks and I was only on 5mg. For me it was all day and started within 20 minutes of taking the pill. But I'd still raise it. It's the only drug I've found where I didn't have sobbing fits constantly. I still have had them, but not all day like I used to. I'm not saying the drugs caused all the Crying, I'm saying the drugs didn't do enough to stop them
