Klonopin withdrawal

Hey everyone,

I woke up at 5am with a major panic attack. I have had hundreds of them the last 3 years but they still scare me to death. I am trying to wean off the Klonopin. The highest dose I every took was 1mg. at bedtime. As you may remember I also take Remeron and Lexapro. I want to be off the Klonopin because it is really messing with my memory. I am down to .25mg at bedtime and the panic attacks have returned. I really don't wont to up dose but I don't know what to do. The psychiatrist who prescribed it retired in January and I have not seen a new one. After seeing him for 2 years and getting addicted to these meds, he told me on my last visit he was retiring. He then told me it was time to get off the Klonopin since most doctors won't write prescriptions for it. I have plenty of them since I never went above 1mg and he was prescribing 1mg. twice a day. I can already tell my memory is much clearer and I really want to be free of this horrible drug. I just can't take the panic attacks! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am also experiencing major nausea throughout the day. Could that be from withdrawal?

Gee I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I take klonopin also but it doesn't seem to affect me like you. Strange how medicine reacts different for everyone. I don't take my like I'm suppose to but I never seem to have any with drawls from it. Maybe you could call a pharmacy & ask them. I wish you all the best. Love, peace, light, joy & hugs!

What are your anxiety symptoms ? What I find helps a little is to distract yourself in doing others things like listening to music, video games, walks, sports , I have severe anxiety I feel like I can’t breathe almost all day everyday and since my condition is unique because I suffer from asthma it just makes it that much worse when I feel like I can’t breathe I automatically think is asthma and it’s not smh .I never took anything because of this reason I never wanted to add another problem in trying to come off meds but any questions u have for me I’m here

Smart move. I wish I had never gotten on this crap. I resisted but the psych doctor insisted I need them and that they were safe. That's a joke. My symptoms are panic attacks, fear like I've never experienced, nausea, and chills. I am so afraid I will never get over this.

Can you please help me? I am down to .25mg from 1mg daily. I feel like I am going crazy.

I wake up with panic every morning and that triggers my anxiety for the day. My head feels weird, kind of like it is on fire and fullness. Is there any thing I can do to help the symptoms?

I have been on Clonazepam 1mg for 7 years. I was told by my therapist that if I wanted to get off of it I would have to be admitted to the hospital because I would need to be monitored because of the other drugs I would be given to help with withdrawal. I will probably never go off the drug.

You might want to find a new psychiatrist who can help you find an appropriate withdrawal method. Also, a check up with your medical doctor to rule out any other issues.
