Anxiety/Depression Question

Do you think your anxiety/depression is caused by a traumatic event?

I think mine was. Mine started when I was going through alot of deaths in my family and losing my 3 dogs. It was devastating and it brought on my anxiety. I don't handle death well. I don't think anyone does. And I know its part of life that is gonna happen to all of us. But at the time is just became to much for me to deal with. It was like one death right after another.

first of all I’m so sorry for the many family deaths as well as three dogs🥺🙏🏽💞may they rest in peace😔death is such a difficult loss because who we lost can’t come back. I lost a friend who was like an older sister a year and a half ago. I can’t imagine multiple deaths.

My anxiety is definitely built up from a series of traumatic events having to do with losing trust in others..

Thank you for your comment. I truly appreciate it. I'm sorry about your friend.🙏😢

Losing trust in others is very traumatic.

I can understand that. And I'm sorry that this happened to you.

🙏🏽🥺opening up to others is one of the most difficult things right now. I can’t even have some be nice without wondering what they’re trying to get from me anymore or if they’re just covering up some deception and putting a wool over my eyes by being extra nice. I’m praying you find the peace you need at this time🌸💞🙏🏽

Yours sounds like a trust issue. It's hard to trust when someone has broken your trust. So you always have your guard up.

Thank you for your prayers. Everyone grieves differently. It's been tough.🥹🙏

My anxiety was my body not doing it's job right,... besides the bits of my body not made right, my body stopped doing 1 job it had to do. It stopped making testosterone. I couldn't physically do things and eventually everything was over thought about and became worries.

I'm sorry to hear about your body not doing what it's suppose to be doing.

I could see why you over thought.

When I overthink my thoughts become worries too. My mind thinks the worst.

Hope that your feeling better and everything is o.k.

Naw, I think my anxiety and depression is me, hard-wired. I was reading "The Raven" at seven. Wasn't a "normal" kid even then. "And my soul from out that shadow..."

I know for a fact complex trauma has exasperated both.

By the way, there's a forum here, "Heal My PTSD" that you might find helpful. The members are very supportive.

Sounds like you like to read.

I'm reading a book called "The Let them Theory" by Mel Robbins. It's very good so far. She gives alot of good advice.

I like to read too. You can learn alot.

I'm currently reading a book about Elvis - the king. Would love to visit Memphis. Also on my list are San Fran, New York, and Rhode Island looks good too.

Elvis was the king. He was loved by many. That would be nice to visit Memphis.

I have never been.

Yes S.F. is good. I hear N.Y. is alot like S.F.

Never been to Rhode Island.

Sounds like you would like to do some traveling. That's awesome.

Thanks for your comment.

Enjoy your book.

So many people jumping on to the Let Them theory. I find the words quite powerful

You're more risk tolerant than I am. I've been to both New York and San Francisco and was miserable. Big cities are too much for me. Rhode Island I'd love, but sadly, my traveling days are over.

The Elvis book sounds fascinating. Title please?

The Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley by Peter Guralnick.

Fascinating book and I recommend it.

Sounds like there was no trauma related to your depression and anxiety. It's just you being you.

Thanks for your comment.

And the PTSD forum suggestion.

I wasn't really diagnosed with PTSD just anxiety. But I know about it.

Hi :)

Many of us on this site cross over to the ptsd site as well.

It may not be the right thing to say to NBB, that she doesn't have a trauma history

❤️🐬

Italianmomma in reply toDolphin14

I will check out the ptsd site. 👍NBB had said that there was no trauma that she had. So I wasn't to sure how to reply back. Just going by what she wrote back.

Hope I didn't offend her or anyone by saying that. It's just what I read.🙏

Oh sorry, I didn't see that she wrote no trauma. Reading her posts over the years it's just something I know.

I didn't mean you needed to check out ptsd site. I just meant many of us here are victims of trauma.

I'm very glad you are not

Hi. I wasn't offended by your comment.

However, I do have a trauma history, and I referred to it above thusly:

"I know for a fact complex trauma has exasperated both."

No worries. We all miss things reading text. Emojis don't really make up for face-to-face.

Thank you I'm glad. I'm just here to listen and comment back and if I can help I will do that.
