Hi everyone,

My name is Danielle. I recently started counseling because my anxiety and depression feel out of hand. I cry very frequently, I never used to cry. I think this all started when I stopped drinking heavily. I feel better not drinking, but I feel socially isolated. I don't have a good support system. I feel like I have a hard time making friends and connecting with people. It felt so easy when I was drinking.

Keep up the good work. It's been 2 years for me. I'd like to say it gets easier, but I can't.

I enjoyed myself a little too much when I was drinking. I'm not proud of some things I did during that period in my life.

I had to leave my bf that was an alcoholic. We were bad for each other because we both liked to drink. We did cocaine too. It's so shameful.

Me either

You may want to attend a few AA meetings. I know of no other better or larger support group for a former drinker. Or NA as NA considers alcohol a drug too.

Both have a goal of helping one another deal with life without drinking or using other drugs. Your anxiety and depression are part of your life right now, and I think it's great that you have stopped drinking. But you are needing a good support system, and I can't think of any better ones. My best wishes for you.

Thank you. Yes, my counselor did recommend AA meetings as well. Have you ever attending a session?

in reply toFindingPeace

Ok, yes I have attended AA and NA, even though those are not my issues. Usually there to support someone who couldn't drive or needed a ride.

Not what you're looking for?
