Hi everyone, can anyone tell me what the optimal levels within the ranges are for the following vitamins please?

Serum iron/ transferrin/ total iron-binding capacity/ferritin + vit D, vit B12 and folate.

When I googled it it only comes up with the ranges.

Thank you!

Hey there -

i now aim to maintain my ferritin at around 100 - folate around 20 - active B12 around 125 ( serum B12 500++ ) and vitamin D at around 125.

I have my bloods tested just yearly now through Medichecks - so use their ranges - and yes - it can be all a nonsense and confusing - depending where you look -

So initially I think it best to post any results in context - with their ranges - so we can also recommend the most appropriate supplements to build you back up if needed.

Thank you! I’ve only got a couple of those results and they look ok. I was asking as I’m going to order a private test so I’ll post them when I get the results

Are you doing thyroid as well - though it's too soon - isn't it ?

Stop any supplements that you are already taking a week before having them tested - so we measure what your body is holding and not that just ingested :

If taking anything containing biotin stop this as 7 days before as well as it can tend to ' mess ' with some assay values/measures used in some Labs :

If doing thyroid -it is a fasting early morning blood draw by around 9.00 am and just take in water until after the blood test and you need to leave around a 24 hour window from your last dose of T4 and around 10/12 hours from your last dose of T3 -

so again, we measure what your body is ' running on ' rather than that just ingested which will give a false ' high ' reading which means you'll likely face a decrease rather than an increase in medication since historically it seems we mostly end up under medicated as doctors like to see ' low' rather than optimal, higher levels of T3/T4.

T4 needs to be taken on an empty stomach with water and you need to wait around a good hour before eating or drinking anything other than water -
