Hello againThanks to those who responded to my last post. I have had time to digest and gone though all my various blood test results and would appreciate any advice.
Background recap, I had a partial thyroidectomy (left side removed due to large nodule) in April 2023. No idea why the nodule grew, thankfully it was benign.
I have been checking through my last blood test results and in particular re vit D, Ferritin and B12. I am due another blood test soon, and want to be prepared for the GP and to ask for a full blood test including vitamins etc.
I am currently on 50mg levothyroxine and have been since November 23) my TSH result history is below as you can see it's variable! I have never been given a T3 T4 blood test.
TSH
Aug 2024. 2.30
June 24. 1.82
March 24. 2.41
Jan 24. 2.11
Oct 23. 0.02 (after being on 100mg levo and feeling awful - hospital said I was over medicated, dropped to 75mg, still felt bad, shaky, nervous and like I was going to have a heart attack, dropped to 50mg levothyroxine. Felt better for a while, but now feeling very tired etc)
July 23. 4.58 (After thyroidectomy)
Apr 23. 2.05 (test prior to thyroidectomy)
Aug 22. 1.75
Sept 19. 2.20
Aug 2012. 2.00
Aug 2007. 1.19
Can anyone tell me what the optimum levels for Vit D, B12 & Ferritin should be?
My latest results are:
Vit D
(I'm also on Letrozole for breast cancer which also can cause osteoporosis)
Jun 2024. 54nmol
Apr 2023 (before thyroidectomy) 55nmol
B12
June 2024. 502ng/l
Sept 2019. 469ng/L
Aug 2012. 451ng/l
Ferritin
March 2024. 198ug/l
June 2024. 84ug/l
For info, I have my blood tests done at 0700hrs, fasting, only water and before taking my levothyroxine . Which I normally take daily at 6am with water, I don't eat or drink any for at least 1 hour after the levo.
Any advice would be appreciated as I'm trying to learn and understand my thyroid condition since my surgery. Unfortunately I think that my thyroid together with the oestrogen blocking medication (letrozole) I take for my breast cancer doesn't help the situation.
As you are all aware GPs aren't too helpful and as long as test results are in 'range' they are unsympathetic.
I have found this forum very helpful, hence my further request for more advice.
Thanking you in advance!
