Partial thyroidectomy

Just enquiring if anyone had had a partial thyroidectomy? I'm on the waiting list for one as I have a large nodule. Ive had 2 ultrasound scans and 2 biopsies which have come back inconclusive. The radiologist report has graded the nodule as a 5 highest grade and highly suspicious.

I've been advised to have a partial thyroidectomy by an ENT consultant following a Thy3 test result. It's going to happen soon, I am being fast tracked for surgery, pre-op in 2 days. Found the lump in March but it may have been there for some time. Its about 4cm.

hi I always had a higher thyroid reading until I had a partial thyroidectomy. My bloods today are T4 17.2 (12-22) Tsh 0.23 (0.27-4.20) It’s been a while and I’m finding it hard to read this so do you think this is normal ? Thanks

Anyway, here's my thyroid result Serum TSH 0.41 mU/L( 0.3- 5.0) Serum free T4 10.9 pmol/L (7.9 -16) I should mention I had partial thyroidectomy ( removal of R side) leaving parathyroid almost 12 years ago due to multinodular goitre.

I had a partial thyroidectomy (left removed) in April 2023. I am on 50mg levothyroxine but I am still not feeling right. I am having trouble regulating my temperature, my hair has tinned a lot. I am tired, ache, have put on weight and feel miserable.

How long does it take to fully recover from a partial Thyroidectomy? Is there anything I can do or take to reduce the swelling at the incision site? Thanks in advance for any responses to my query Regards Purplesane

I have been hypothyroid most of my life and have to take synthroid, due to a partial thyroidectomy in my twenties. I am now 69 and have recently developed a fibs. I also might have apnea; am getting a sleep study done soon...... Are either of these conditions related to a fibs??

T4 13 T3 5.4 I’m worried about my T4 which is falling & I know should be higher through range than my T3 Any idea what they may say at my appointment so I can be prepared I had a partial Thyroidectomy in 1995 & have been on Thyroxine since 1997. Wish me luck Thanks

I thought it was coincidental that Since becoming hypothyroid due to a partial thyroidectomy, my kappa lambada neutrophil ratio has been consistently testing just below range, My gp was concerned enough to request blood tests every 4 months to keep an eye on it because it could point to a possible

I had a partial thyroidectomy in 1995 But since 2017 had symptoms of Hypothyroidism which my GP ignored until I was admitted to hospital unable to function at all. I eventually saw an Endocrinologist who told me I had been undermedicated for years.

( just for background I developed a goitre in 2021, biopsy came back inconclusive so I had a partial thyroidectomy 2/3rds removed, started levothyroxine but despite my dose increasing my antibodies are still off the chart and my symptoms haven’t improved)

Background recap, I had a partial thyroidectomy (left side removed due to large nodule) in April 2023. No idea why the nodule grew, thankfully it was benign. I have been checking through my last blood test results and in particular re vit D, Ferritin and B12.

As I had a partial thyroidectomy 40 years ago and do not take any thyroid supplementary tablets, any clues as to what may be going on.

Anyone know whether surgeons try to preserve the parathyroid glands associated with the half-thyroid removed during a hemithyroidectomy? I would imagine that they're tricky to preserve so I wouldn't be surprised if they just whip them out along with the half-thyroid being removed.

Did anyone regret their partial thyroidectomy? Thank you in advance for any advice you have to offer, I’m not sure what to do :(
