Hi, I have been given a trial of T3. My thyroxine has been reduced from 75mcg daily to 50 mcgs with T3 added at 5mcgs. I have been taking these for eight days so far. I have an appointment with a GP on Monday and will ask to have my blood tested for vitamins. My question is, which should I be asking for? I have Vit B12 injections. I self injected every other day for about eighteen months, and now around once a week. I also take a Vitamin B complex. I had my ferritin tested a few weeks ago privately and that came back quite high at 178 (13 to 150). I know I need to check Vit D and folate, for which I supplement, but wondered whether there is anything else I should ask for. These are my results from 16th May: TSH 1.4 mU/L 0.30 - 6.00
Free T4 21.0 pmol/L 10.4 - 24.5
Free T3 4.6 pmol/L 3.0 - 7.1
I would be grateful for any advice
Thank you

For an NHS prescription for T3 only an NHS endocrinologist can give you a trial. Your GP would have to refer you to an endo and if the endo agreed that you may benefit from T3 you would get a trial of T3 for 3 months, that would come out of the hospital budget. If the endo agreed that you should continue with T3 then the GP should take over prescribing and the cost then comes out of the GP surgery budget. A GP cannot initiate a trial of T3 on the NHS.
If you saw a private GP/endo and paid for the T3 yourself on private prescription then that would be different.
