New blood test results

Hello and thank you for reading.

I got my blood results back today and would really appreciate any comments!

I’m on 100mcg levothyroxine and 10mcg liothyronine in the morning and 10mcg liothyronine in the afternoon.

I followed the advice on here - was tested at 8am and left the relevant amount of time gap for both levo and lio.

TSH - 0.01 (0.2-4.5) mU/L

Free T4 - 11 (9-21) pmol/L

Total T3 - 1.9 (0.9-2.4) nmol/L

They only tested the 3 things this time. Is total T3 the right check or should it have been free T3?

Thank you!

The Total T3 test doesn't tell us anything, it's Free T3 that you need. Total T3 measures the total amount of T3 - that which is bound to proteins and that which is unbound (Free), it doesn't differentiate between the two. The Free T3 test tells us what is free to be taken up by the cells - that's the test we need.

Your TSH and FT4 are what one might expect to see when on a combination of Levo and T3. T3 tends to lower, even suppress TSH, and it can also lower FT4. However, where you need your FT4 level is individual to you. Some people are fine with a low FT4 when on combination replacement, personally I need both FT4 and FT3 around 75% through range.

If it's impossible to get FT3 tested with the NHS, personally I would go for a test bundle with Medichecks or Blue Horizon, and I'd also include all the important vitamins and minerals.

Thank you 😊. I’m going to order medichecks one as I see they have 20% off.

Should I leave the same gap in taking medication before I do the test and do first thing like at the doctors?

It's Blue Horizon that currently has 20% off until Friday using code FEBRUARY.

Medichecks has code THYROIDUK for 10% off any test not on special offer.

Do the test under exactly the same conditions as advised for GP tests.

Thank you. The medichecks had 20% off too so I’ve ordered it. I’m sure it’ll give me much more information than my GP blood tests!

Thanks again for your help.

Have you got a Medichecks code then? The UItravit is showing at it's normal price of £99.

A code popped up when I went on the site. Think it was ‘check19’ and it gave me 20% off.

Oooh, very nice :)

Off to see if it will give me one, I need to order a test too.

I put the code in at the checkout and it took 20% off for me. I think the CHECK was in capitals - not sure if that makes a difference. I got it for £79.20.

Worked for me too, thank you very much :)

I only had the thyroid monitoring so a cheaper test than yours, but still got the 20%, every little helps :)
