Advice on Increasing Dose after latest blood test

Hi all,

I feel a lot better than I did a few months ago but just have the odd day when I don’t feel right.

Below are my latest results:

TSH - 0.04 (0.27-4.2)

Free T3 - 4.47 (3.1-6.8)

Free T4 - 17.7 (12-22)

Ferritin - 177 (13-150)

Folate - 10.74 (>3.89)

B12 Active - >150 (37.5-150)

Vitamin D - 101 (50-200)

At the moment I am taking 125mcg Levothyroxine and 12.5mcg t3 and have been on this for 2 months. I feel there is probably room for an increase in t3 but would be grateful for any suggestions.

Many thanks

was test done early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Do you normally split your dose T3 as 2 x 1/4 tablet

On day before test ALWAYS split dose and take last 1/4 tablet Approx 8-12 hours before test

Thanks for your reply SlowDragon . Test was done 7.30am and last dose levo taken 24 hrs before. I normally take all of T3 with levo in the morning but the day before test I split the t3 in half and took 2nd half 11 hours before test.

so you probably can try adding 3rd 1/4 tablet of T3

Suggest you try splitting and 3rd dose at bedtime

Retest in 6-8 weeks

Thanks SlowDragon. The main reason I take all t3 in the morning is because it’s easier to be strict about not eating for 2 hours before and an hour afterwards. Should the rules around taking t3 in the evening be the same?

T3 is absorbed quickly

Just avoid eating or drinking with in 30-45mins

Waking and bedtime dose are easy

Mid afternoon…..I usually take 2pm is

But if out and eating lunch late ….I will move it to 4pm or later sometimes

I also split my levothyroxine, half dose waking up and half at bedtime

Thanks, so as long as you avoid eating and drinking within 30-45 mins before and after it should be ok?
