I have Hashimoto's. GP prescribed me 25mcg of Levo in Feb 24, but are refusing to increase my dosage. I've finally started self-prescribing and increased my dosage to 50mcg 8 weeks ago.
These are the results of my blood test.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!!
TSH 2.3 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2) 51.7%
Free T4 (fT4) 14.5 pmol/L (12 - 22) 25.0%
Free T3 (fT3) 4.6 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 40.5%
T4:T3 Ratio 3.152
Vitamin D 101 nmol/L (≥ 50)
Ferritin 62.4 ug/L (30 - 169) 23.3%
B12 : >150 (>37.5)
Folate Serum (no results)
edit: Perhaps also good to mention: I've had an extremely stressful 8 weeks.

great work! Well done advocating for yourself. You could do with trying 75mcg next. Test again in 6-8 weeks
Keep going with the D, Ferritin and B12 all heading in the right direction.
I can’t understand your GP, it’s unbelievable what I’m reading here tonight about dose increase refusals on starter doses. They are negligently holding people in a ‘managed sick’ state. Which is cruel. 😡
Thanks Regenallotment ! A bit of encouragement is very welcome and makes all the difference.
I might start the 75mcg tonight! I really haven't been able to cope these last 2 weeks on 50mcg.
Yes, it makes you feel worse, doesn't it. But you agree to it, because you're hopeful (the tiniest speck of hope at the far end) it might get you on the right path and it seems better than nothing.
I think maybe it's their new tactic. If they give you 25mcg, they can say they've tried it and it didn't work. The endo's advice to the GP was 'consider stopping it for her pituitary thyroid axis to respond naturally.' It's like he doesn't even know what the meaning of auto-immune disorder!
Ft4 is still too low …..so yes ready to increase to 75mcg
Retest again in a further 6-8 weeks time
Aiming for Ft4 at least 60-70% through range
GP is being ridiculous not to increase your dose
approx how much do you weigh in kilo
Even if we frequently start on only 50mcg, most people need to increase levothyroxine dose slowly upwards in 25mcg steps (retesting 6-8 weeks after each increase) until eventually on, or somewhere near full replacement dose (typically 1.6mcg levothyroxine per kilo of your weight per day)
Adults usually start with a dose between 50 micrograms and 100 micrograms taken once a day. This may be increased gradually over a few weeks to between 100 micrograms and 200 micrograms taken once a day.
Some people need a bit less than guidelines, some a bit more
TSH should be under 2 as an absolute maximum when on levothyroxine
If symptoms of hypothyroidism persist despite normalisation of TSH, the dose of levothyroxine can be titrated further to place the TSH in the lower part of the reference range or even slightly below (i.e., TSH: 0.1–2.0 mU/L), but avoiding TSH < 0.1 mU/L. Use of alternate day dosing of different levothyroxine strengths may be needed to achieve this (e.g., 100 mcg for 4 days; 125 mcg for 3 days weekly).
