Hi, its been a while since my last message, Update is both blood tests, NHS and private now done. Doc says all OK TSH & T4 within range. I'm on levo only 100mg have had TT in 2016

I would be grateful if you could look over my Medicheck results and let me know your opinion. To me they look OK, but all look to be at the lower end of the ranges.

Thanking you in advance and any advice welcome..

Thyroid Function

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE

*

0.053 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20

FREE THYROXINE 17.500 pmol/L 12.00 - 22.00

FREE T3 5.36 pmol/L 3.10 - 6.80

THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY <10 IU/mL 0.00 - 115.00

THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES 16.3 IU/mL 0.00 - 34.00

Vitamins

ACTIVE B12 79.400 pmol/L 25.10 - 165.00

FOLATE (SERUM) 11.35 ug/L 2.91 - 50.00

25 OH VITAMIN D 57.5 nmol/L 50.00 - 200.0

Inflammation Marker

CRP - HIGH SENSITIVITY 4.25 mg/l 0.00 - 5.00

Iron Status

FERRITIN 72.3 ug/L 13.00 - 150.00

Private report suggests lowering my Levo and taking Vit D supplements.

A little deflated now as to why I'm feeling like this.... Doc just said 'your within range' as usual, gave him ticked suggested Thyroid UK symptom sheet, didn't go down well. He looked at it and said, 'I can't deal with all this in 10 mins' feel for them really.

Your FT4 is 55% through range and your FT3 is 61% through range. Your T4 to T3 conversion is good. If you're symptomatic there's room for an increase in your Levo. What were your NHS results like?

Active B12 is above the level where testing for B12 deficiency would be wise (that is below 70).

Folate is on the low side, it should be half way through it's range.

If those were my results I'd start taking a good B Complex such as Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B and that should raise both B12 and Folate.

Vit D is to low. The Vit D Council, the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health all recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L. If my result 57.5nmol/L then I'd be taking 5000iu D3 for 3 months and retest, including it's important cofactors magnesium and Vit K2-MK7. When the recommended level is reached then then a maintenance dose is needed, which may be 2000iu daily, maybe more or less, maybe less in summer than winter, it's trial and error so it's recommended to retest once or twice a year to keep within the recommended range. This can be done with a private fingerprick blood spot test with City Assays vitamindtest.org.uk/

Ferritin is just about OK at 72.3 but I'd be eating liver every couple of weeks to perhaps raise it a bit and maintain a decent level.

Hi SeasideSusie, thank you so much for your wonderful info, I will definately take it on board. My NHS TSH result was in the middle, that's all I got told. But as everyone says if your symptomatic then you need to be optimal not just in range. Again many thanks
