Hi folks I’ve read on here that vitamins and levothyroxine should be taken at different times? I have just increased my levothyroxine to 125 mcg which I take first thing on a morning.

I’m also wanting to take 200mcgs of selenium which has vit E at 12mg C 80mg and A 800 mcgs.

Vitamin B complex = B3 16 mg, B5 6mg, B6 1.4 mg, B1 1.1 mg, B2 1.4mg, B12 2.5. Folic acid 200mcg biotin 50 mcg

Vitamin C 1000mcg

Iron 14mg

Magnesium 100mg

Vitamin K2 mk -7 100mcg

Vitamin D 20000 iu twice a week for 6 weeks then 800iu daily

Am I missing anything? Should I take all together or space certain ones? I’ve also gone gluten free 🤔

Thank you to anyone who can help 🙂

It's generally said vitamins in the morning, minerals in the evening.

Levo - take on a empty stomach, one hour before or 2 hours after food, with water only, and only water one hour each side. Leave 2 hours between Levo and supplements, but 4 hours between Levo and iron, Vit D and magnesium.

B Complex should be taken no later than lunchtime as it can be stimulating. You didn't go for the suggested brands then? You would have been better off with 400mcg methylfolate which is in the brands I suggested, as that would be better to raise your low Folate level. Not everyone can convert folic acid. After breakfast is a good time to take B Complex, 2 hours away from iron.

D3 and K2 need to be taken with dietary fat, so the fattiest meal of the day but 2 hours away from iron.

Magnesium is calming so evening is the best time for that, 2 hours away from iron.

Selenium is a mineral so you could take that in the evening, 2 hours away from iron.

Iron needs to be taken 2 hours away from any other supplements as it will affect their absorption, so lunchtime could be a good time for that. Vit C is taken with iron as it aids it's absorption.

Start supplements one at a time, leave a week or two and if no adverse reaction add the next one, etc. That way if you do have an adverse reaction you will know what caused it.

Check the dosage on the Igennus, I think it says 2 tablets is the dose. Once your Folate is in a good place, you could drop down to 1 tablet daily if you like. Once I'd got my Folate up, I reduced dose from 7 days a week to 4 or 5 days (I use Thorne) as a "maintenance" dose.

Hi Seaside Susie

I'm guessing you live by the sea so i'm quite envious!

Anyway, i'm a bit confused as when you buy multivits and mins they are in the one tab and so you can't take one lot in morning and the other in the evening?

Multivit/min tablets aren't recommended. Everything competes with each other, they tend to contain not enough of anything to help and generally use the cheapest and least absorbable form of active ingredients. If they contain iron then that affects absorption of anything else, and if they contain Iodine or calcium those should be tested and only supplemented if deficient.

Thanks Susie That makes sense.

Hi xdianex I have been on various dosages of Thyroxine and then Levothyroxine over the past forty five years and I always took levo first thing in the morning along with my hydrocortisone tablets.

More recently I noticed the information on the outside of the packaged levo tabs advised taking the tablets at least 30 minutes before breakfast, drinks containing caffeine and other medication.

On the leaflet that comes with this medn it says to swallow the tablets with plenty of water and that they should " usually be taken before breakfast or, your first meal of the day! It also says that levo "can" affect the way other medication works.

I would think that the leaflet must carry some credibility as this advice is coming from the people who have had a direct input in the development of this drug.

Having said all of the above I now take my levo with water 30 mins before food etc for sometime and I can't say that it has made any difference to me.

I take levo along with other meds as part of a package to replace different hormones which I don't produce due to my pituitary gland being non-active following a radium implant for a tumour. So whether that makes a difference I don't know.

If I were you I would speak to my pharmacist. They are very knowledeable and often get overlooked. I hope this has been of some help to you. Good luck!
