Hi I was diagnosed in 2012 with underactive thyroid with TSH 15.3 (.5 to 5 ) and T4 of 9.7 (10 to 25 ) after months of feeling very unwell . I was treated with T4 and 2014 to 2015 I felt great , lost 3 stone , then came crashing down late 2015 and by summer of 2016 all weight put back on all typical symptoms back . Then I found you amazing people , fortunately I have an understanding doctor who was happy to send me to private cons to try and get T3 . In October 2016 the cons prescribed T3 , but said no proven data to say helps . I was on 100 T4 and 10 T3 taken in 2 doses of 5 . I immediately felt amazing , and by March 2017 had lost 2 stone .
Dec 2016 TSH .24 (.5 to 5
T4 14.2 (10 to 25 )
Free T3 8.3 (4.3 to 8.1)
March 2017
TSH .02
T4 18.2
Free T3 7
My cons reduced my T4 to 75 because of suppressed TSH , some symptoms returned , so with doctors agreement went back up to 100 T4 with 10 T3
June 2017 results Free T4 16.2
T3 5.9
Ferritin 29. (8 to 205)
B12. 459 (200 to 680 )
Iron 14 (7 to 30)
Total 25 OH vit D 82 nmoi/L
I started using magnesium , Vic C , vit B complex vit D 3 and selenium supplements a couple of weeks ago .
Feel a bit of a fraud , reading the stories of some on here , in that I have been fortunate to have T3 prescribed . I am not feeling as brilliant as I did Dec to March , do t want things to slip again is there any room for tweaking medication or do members feel I am adequately medicated .
Once again thank you as without this forum I would not be in the place I am now health wise
Blood test were 24 hours after last med and fasting

suelemaistre Personally I would want my B12 higher. Under 500 can cause neurological problems and for us Hypos top of range is recommended, even 900-1000, so I would add 1000mcg sublingual methylcobalamin lozenges to your supplements.

D3 level is pretty good, although recommended is 100-150nmol/L. How much D3 are you taking? Are you also taking K2-MK7 to direct the uptake of calcium that D3 aids to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues?

Ferritin is very low, recommended is half way through it's range. It needs to be at least 70 for thyroid hormone to work properly. You might want to supplement with iron tablet (take each tablet with 1000mcg Vit C to aid absorption and help prevent constipation), plus include iron rich foods in your diet, particularly liver which can help raise ferritin (maximum 200g a week)
When testing, leaving off Levo for 24 hours is recommended, but for T3 it is 12 hours. If you left off T3 for 24 hours then your FT3 level will actually be higher than shown.
Thank you so much that is so helpful , I am taking 1000 IU vitamin D3 one soft gel capsule with water at breakfast . I will need to get the other supplements you suggest 😍 I love liver , just haven't eaten it in ages , will be back on the menu .
Very refreshing to see someone say they love liver! The usual response is "Eeeewwwwwww" I had mine last night - yum!!!
It might be an idea to take a bit more D3 until you get your level up to the recommended range, say 2000iu, then you might find 1000iu is a good enough maintenance dose for you. D3 should be taken four hours away from thyroid meds as Stevie has mentioned.
If you take iron tablets, they should be taken four hours away from thyroid meds and two hours away from any other medication and supplements as it affects their absorption.
Thank you for your replies , ordered extra supplements , good old Amazon prime . Is it best to take iron at night with the vit c , will ensure other supplements are taken in the morning 4 hours away from thyroid med , which I usually take at 6 . So , so grateful for this forum ,
It's fine to take iron at a time to suit you, just as long as it's the appropriate time away from other supplements/meds/Levo. Taking it on an empty stomach is supposed to ensure best absorption but that can cause stomach upset for some people.
Hi following your help 6 months ago , could you give me some advice re recent blood test results . In September my consultant reduced my T4 to 75 and increased my T3 from 10 to 20 , which I take in 2 doses 7am and around 3 pm , I feel a real drop in energy so know when I need next dose .
I am completely gluten free since July , supplement as already advised and eat liver once a week.

Because on lab results they put suppressed TSH over replacement , my doctor has said I am over replaced in letter . He hasn’t reduced my dose , just said to contact him should I have any over replacement symptoms , which I haven’t .
I am due to see cons on Friday , so just wanted your thoughts , so I am armed with all the facts.
