Iron question
Hi all. I was reading a recently cited Mayo Clinic paper, and it stated that "A common oral iron regimen [for RLS] is 325 mg of ferrous sulfate (65 mg elemental iron) ..." I've been taking two 25-mg capsules (every two days) of Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate (the Ferrochel trademarked brand, marketed

Low Ferritin and hair loss, would appreciate advice please
Hi All Would be so grateful for advice on my blood tests and also desperate for advice on how to raise my ferritin levels without upsetting my stomach. I have been taking Levothyroxine for about 8 years, current dose 50mg/75mg on alternate days. I understand little about thyroid hormones but am trying

Low iron first time in years despite supps
Hello, I just had an iron panel done as it turned out my iron is 4% of range.... 55 (50-170)! Ferritin better at 30% range, but still not great. I used to take Floradix and my iron was over midrange on it, then took 60 mg Actiferol (ferric pyrophosphate) in powder from the pharmacy for couple of months

vitiligo around the eyes. 8y old girl
Hi there Very excited to join. My daughter has two skin conditions. She has this little white spot since 2017. It disappeared in 2018 and comes back around this year. The spot now is getting bigger and spreading around her knees feet. Seen by many specialists and they confirm its vitiligo. I disagree

How much zinc is ok
I don’t know if anyone knows for sure but I have been taking 30mg zinc a day my dermatologist prescribed me a while ago for just hormonal breakouts she said it was safe for pregnancy. I am on my second ivf round and about to do an embryo transfer. I was thinking 30mg is maybe a lot. Does anyone know

Advice for a newbie about blood test
First time posting. I am going for a blood test on the 24th at my GP surgery. I suspect I am hypothyroid after gaining around 45 pounds since 2019. I had a well-woman NHS check-up in 2019 and the doctor said my TSH levels were off, but not to an extent that needed medication. They said to come back if

Alternative to Levothyroxide on NHS
Hi everyone, My most recent results show my thyroid still needs to be re-medicated (long story but I came off Levo under the instruction of Dr Peatfield before he retired) but I am reluctant to go back on to Levothyroxine because it made me feel horrendous. I was previously taking 175mcg and my TSH still

Dairy free diet, it has helped stop rls at night
Around 5 months ago I was told I was lactose intolerant and needed to have a complete dairy free diet. I've had rls for many years I just did not know I had it until I started to come off morphine and pregabalin, my doctor said it was rls and it might just be the rehab causing it, however my symptoms

Hypothyroid misery! would appreciate on my latest lab results
I had become very symptomatic (extreme brain fog, fatigue, depression, weight gain, joint pain) after several years of doing well on 75 mcg levothyroxine, as my former gp kept my TSH at a 1, where I felt best. I relocated, and my new gp (testing only TSH once a year) felt my latest TSH results of 3.96

Safe to take supplements?
Hi, With all the meds I'm taking in first year after triple CABG is it safe to take supplements (namely Vitamin D / zinc in winter months)? Or will I be overwhelming my liver? Thanks

Which blood tests to take?
I’m due to see my doctor again in a couple of weeks, and whilst I’m due to do a full thyroid panel, I’m conscious that various advice on here has also advised to test a broader range of things. Off the top of my head, that should include: Ferritin Folate Vitamin D Vitamin B12 I’m currently ting selenium

Tales from the IC: Getting to know my Metatarsals (# 1)
Warning: long but hopefully informative post. Ok, so for the first time since starting to run nearly 2 years ago, I’m taking a cautious step back and am preparing to be on the Injury Couch for a stint. With this I hope to minimise the risk of a more serious injury. About a week ago, I noticed the
