Dear all, just needing a listening ear today, hope that’s ok with all you lovely and helpful people on this forum. We are understandably very upset today as our 20 year old daughter has voluntarily entered a psychiatric clinic today on the advice of her psychiatrist, due to increasing intrusive and

any higher strength iron glycinate supplements?
Hi, thanks in advance. My teenager is taking iron glycinate 27mg iron per tablet. I sourced this after the fumarate prescribed by GP seemed to be giving stomach pain. Current dose of 1 per day is maybe not sufficient to increase her ferritin. It was around 15 for several years (till I read up about

long term hair loss
Having been on levothyroxine for more than 10 years I have gone from having very thick hair to continually losing handfuls over the years and now having thin hair. I've asked GPS a few times but had no help. I take iron, biotin, selenium, magnesium, zinc, collegen and multi vitamins. Has anyone found

Help for extreme pain in thighs and arms
I took my last prednisone tablet mid May (GCA diagnosed late April 2019); cortisol test in June was 203 (reference range in Canada is 135-537); 380 in September so my adrenal glands are well on their way to recovery. I have been on Actemra injections since October 2019, now every three weeks (until January

Medichecks Result and a warning about testing & HRT
Apologies for the long post (my first) and thank you if you manage to get to the end of it. Bit of history first (there's more in my bio), after 7 years of being bedbound with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, I was finally prescribed combination T3/T4 in 2018. I hadn't had my bloods checked since 2019

Zinc supplement
What's the best form of zinc to take, there seem to be so many. And when is the best time to take it? I take most of my supplements together with my evening meal which probably isn't the best way to do it. Thanks

Iron/ferritin deficiency
Hello! Does anyone know how long it might take for ferrous sulphate 200mg 2x to have any effect on fairly severe RLS symptoms if it is caused by iron deficiency? Cheers!

Liothyronine and histamine sensitivity
Hi everyone. I am having trouble getting my levo and lio amounts right and will post on that separately to ask advice, please, but I also have another concern which I would very much appreciate your help with. I wondered if anyone could help with regard to what I think is a histamine intolerance/sensitivity

Is it normal to feel anxious when adding Armour?
I just started taking an extra 1/4 grain of Armour. I feel a bit edgy and anxious. Is this typical for an adjustment period? My previous dose was 88mcg Synthroid and 1/4 grain Armour. Adding 1/4 grain because my most recent lab results were this: August 9, 2022 TSH - 4.12 mIU/L …Range: .4-4.50 mIU

what do you do when you feel a cold coming on?
any magic potions, supplements, herbs? I just started sneezing, my husband just had it, I’d really like to keep it from getting worse. Now that I’m finally getting better sleep. Sneezing kept waking me last night. I’ve heard megadose vitamin A 50-100,000 iu for 3-5 days, same with vitamin D, 3-5

Starting to feel bad again
Hello everyone! (sorry for the long post) I posted here about a year ago in regards to my test results and my GP's certainty that my labs were normal. I was trying to find that past post so I could remember all the details, but I dont know if it's been deleted since? Or if I'm being technologically

Unbearable itching! Any ideas to calm it down?
Hello all, I started with ET but now have PV and have been on Peg for about 6 weeks with phlebotomies occasionally. My Hematocrit has gone down but my platelets are going up so the MPN Dr wants me to take Hydroxyurea at 500 2-3 times a week with low dose of Peg at 60. He really wants me back on hydrea

Further frustrations with NHS
I wrote some time ago about a borderline low B12 test and had some very helpful feedback from this group. It was agreed that the best course of action would be to have MMA tested and I have managed to convince my doctor to do this, Levels were "normal" - 0.09 (range is 0 - 0.29). I also had homocysteine

Thank you - ferritin levels. 😀
I just wanted to say Thank You - because of this site, especially Sue and Joolz, my consultant has advised my GP to give me ferrous sulphate every other day and check my ferritin levels in 3 months' time. If my RLS is still bad or ferritin still less than 100-200, they may do an infusion! And I live

Week 9 run 3 - DONE!
Last run of the programme completed this afternoon, in bright sunshine. I'm particularly pleased that I've managed to finish as I originally started the C25K back in May but had to stop as I had injured my back. It would be over 8 weeks before I could begin to run again, starting over at Week 1.

Seeing endo on Monday – question about low TSH/hypothyroidism
Hi all, I’m still working to get an official diagnosis for the complicated mess of adrenal/thyroid/pituitary conditions I’ve been experiencing for the past few years and have a much-awaited appt with my endo on Monday. I get super nervous before any appts for fear of not communicating clearly enough

Is it B12 deficiency, cortisol issues or COVID related?
I had Covid in March and since then have been feeling pretty much all of the rotten signs and symptoms I had when on T4 only as well as some more awful ones indicative of B12 deficiency. My ferritin vit D but especially B12 have all taken a dive. I have always had above range B12 without supplements.

Zinc and Selenium
Got my blood test results for zinc and selenium today. Both are close to the lower end range, but still within normal. Shall I supplement or leave it there? I read contractionary studies. Any advice or even evidence?
