So much better
My journey with PMR is much easier now that I am settled into 5 mgs of prednisone per day. I was not allowed the drug for five months while awaiting bariatric surgery. But now, eight weeks after surgery, I feel that I am nicely settled. I have only occasional tweaks of pain from the PMR and I am losing

Coeliac still showing symptoms
Hi all, I was recently diagnosed with coeliac disease after having a short period of stomach pains and discomfort that would come on after eating meals. Between my initial visit to the doctor and the endoscopy (which confirmed coeliac disease) the pains I was having had totally disappeared despite me

I realise this is the weight-loss forum, but diabetes and obesity are inextricably linked, and we seem to have had quite a few posts on the subject lately. I was unable to respond to lucigret's tag on a closed thread, so herewith a few thoughts on the subject. 1) Back when my mum was a ward sister,

IF and Understanding and treating Diabetes - Dr Jason Fung
We have had a couple of posts about diabetes - but I thought that this warranted a post to itself... I found this video about understanding and treating diabetes ...by Dr Jason Fung. https://youtu.be/Gw61ad-wedo It starts with “Understanding diabetes”.... but about halfway through he starts talking about

Re: Calories and stalled weight loss
After reading The Toad's post on calories and all your input, I decided to mention a couple people that some of you might be interested in reading/listening to. First is an author Robb Wolf who wrote a book called Wired to Eat. I found out about it via Amy Berger. He presents the theory that everyone

To eat or not to eat?
Interesting stuff came out of my post on calories, particularly from those posters who are near their goal weight but just can't quite get where they want to be. I was pondering on all this, because I'm pretty certain artificial caloric restriction and/or extensive fasting can't be the answer. Yes, it'll

I am rigidity- dominant PD ; My personal experience!
I am rigidity -dominant PD and like other PwPD my main issues arise when imbalances between Acetylcholine and Dopamine and other neurotransmitters occur. I think we are either Dopamine- dominant or Acetylcholine- dominant( my case) PD. 📍📍Note: The DaTSCAN image doesn't belong to me and that's for

Today’s Lunch
Today, I had a chicken breast with creamy dill sauce, peaches (chunks), milk, cooked broccoli and mashed sweet potatoes at work for lunch. It was really good and low carb.. it had 52 carbs..

Had some great advice from this group that helped me get a diagnosis for coeliac. TSH now at 7.84 - do I also have hypothyroidism
Hi there I have coeliac disease which was finally diagnosed in June 2017 after ordering my own private blood tests and some great advice from this group. I had constantly low Vit D, Ferritin and Folate. I have been on a gluten free diet for almost 2 years now and have been feeling much better than

Calorie Control
The topic has come up a few times lately, so here's some random thoughts on the subject. Calories in equals calories out. Well, of course it does. I think this couple may have issues :-)
I think the lady is on a very high carb, no calorie restriction diet. I think the man is on a LCHF diet.

Plateau
Hi. I started LCHF 6 weeks ago. It took a couple of weeks to get to grips with it so I’d say for 4 weeks I’ve stayed within 20g daily net carbs. I lost 6 lb initially but for last 12 days have been hovering between 6-7lb loss but not seeing any more movement. Should I be doing something different now

ICD Confusion
My husband had a STEMI in August 2018. Unfortunately, he delayed treatment for 8 hours, thinking he was suffering from food stuck in his throat. He had a stent fitted. His first echocardiogram 4 days later revealed an EF of 39% and damage to the left ventricle wall. After a week stay in hospital where

Extreme lethargy/fatigue on low carb?
Does this happen? I've been doing LCHF for about 3 weeks now. I did have a little blip about 2 weeks in (loads of lentils and rice) but I got back on track. The last few days/week or so I have been feeling extremely lethargic and fatigued, I can hardly lift my arms or legs. It feels like walking through

Big Life Update
Hello again all, I have returned after a extended break from posting on here. The past 7 months have been full of ups and downs. The last one I talked about here was my long term boyfriend and I had broken up and I was very upset and spoke about just wanting to have fun. And well, I did exactly that.

Runniversary - what a difference a year makes!
Yesterday was the anniversary of my starting c25k. So what's happened during that year? Well Runkeeper tells me that I've completed 151 runs, totalling 1290 km. I graduated c25k on 25 July and after consolidation, started to work towards 10k, which I achieved in October. I've done 31 parkruns and volunteered
