Advice please - frequency of runs & keto

Hi,

A few weeks ago i graduated from C25K and then started a 5-10K app. Im a 58 year old male who has battled with my weight since a child, i am a binge eater. Many years ago i tried running and ended up with a swollen very painfull lump in my achilles (too much too quick). Anyway years later i thought i will try again but be more sensible and follow a proper program (C25K) so as not to overdoo it! Over the last 30 months i have lost the best part of 5 stones through diet and gym excersize and hiking so now for some running. After graduating i did my first Parkrun with a time of 30mins but boy was it hard because i really pushed myself to max heart rate. About week 7 of C25K i got discomfort in my right achilles. I was doing the running on trails so i have reverted to the treadmill, used ice, heat, stretching and vigourous massage. I decided to go to a proper running specialist and after a full gait analysis etc came away with some ON Clodventure running shoes, when i have them on i have no pain! I am now week 5 into the 5-10k app and am about to leave the treadmill and go back to trail running which i prefer. When i do the app i do it every other day and the inbetween days i weight lift. The trouble is i want to run MORE!!!! This week i have run on 2 consecutive days - is that too much ? Is it okay to do more say run 3 days lift 1 run 2 days lift 1 (each week) or is that too much?

A week ago i started Keto, i dont know how long it will take to get Fat Adapted but last night i had a binge!!!! It was only low carb foods but massive cals! Im also starting IF 16/8 yet again. Always felt good on it and always excersize fasted as its when i feel my best. Is it really bad to binge occassionally on keto? i had about 50g carbs where normally im 15-30.

Running on consecutive days is not advised for beginners as it carries a much larger risk of injury. Usually they say wait till you’ve been running nine months to a year. You could try power walking on some of your rest days: that’s allowed as it’s low impact unlike running.

I think a B210K run would easily burn through the glycogen stored by a 50g carb day. The body stores c. 600calories as glycogen in the muscles.

You're asking if binge running is a good idea aren't you?
