calcium levels
I have been reading that a blood test for calcium is not accurate, it does not show how much calcium is in your bones, so how do you know if you need a calcium supplement and that too much calcium is not good.

pain eating after hiatus hernia repair.
hey everyone, I had surgery to repair a hiatus hernia I had in 2019. I’m grateful I have had no acid reflux since but I get this really bad pain in my left shoulder (kind of up inline with my armpit). I went back to hospital for endoscopy and barium swallow because I regurgitate my food and they found

Cirrhosis or PBC ?
THE SHORT STORY My husband was recently diagnosed with F4 Cirrhosis. Began as NAFLD (not from drinking). Short story is that he's had high cholesterol maybe all his life, but it was noticed during a High School football check-up. That was 40-some years ago! He totally forgot about it until a doctor

Numbers Through The Roof!
The doctors are stumped. We are bummed. Here we are, nearing retirement age, and all we want for Christmas is his good health back! My husband (age 58) is not a diabetic. He is not overweight. Never has been. He has only ever been an occasional social drinker. When I say occasional I mean maybe 2 or

67 year old male with severe Osteoporosis from long term use of Nexium.
I am a 67 year old male, who used to be very active. My Gastroenterologist had me on Nexium for 20 years, as my body produces a lot of stomach acid. Three years ago, my vertebrae started to break. Bone Density Scan showed me with severe osteoporosis. I just had my ninth vertebrae fracture. With

Disrupted sleep with increased T4
Hello dear Thyroid UK, I had thyroid cancer in August 2021 with part of my thyroid and a parathyroid removed. Since then, I've been trying to get an ideal dose of Levothyroxine T4. I did take a very low dose of T3 (Cytomel) briefly. I felt great alert-wise but experienced headaches, nausea and anxiety

After more than a year of waiting for a follow up neurology appointment I was left shocked and nearly in tears because of being forced to prove my need for B12 and more recently calcium to stop my symptoms. I have to risk my life and subject myself to a possible electrolyte-metabolic-neurologic-blood

My father and sister both died of heart disease in their 60s so do I have it too?
I am a 71 year old, conditioned athlete, hiking daily, lifting weights, and wrestling in jujitsu. For the last three years, I have been stage four metastatic prostate cancer with tumors moving up my spine. I am currently on two different testosterone suppressing agents, Orgovyx and Zytiga. These drugs

Hello everyone, I'm 75 years old and I had an NSTEMI at the end of April and was put on Ticagrelor. However over the last few weeks I was becoming more and more breathless so saw a Gp on Monday and was changed to Clopidogrel. I seem to be improving slowly but now I have a new problem. My Gp informed

We did discuss the probability

Help - Osteoporosis and cancer
Hi all, I have today found out I have osteoporosis in consequence of taking meds for stage four breast cancer. I am very well versed in cancer as I have lived with it since 2020 but a total novice when it comes to bone matters. My oncologist was dismissive and suggested I speak to my GP. Due to an

Radium223 has not been a success, is Enzalutamide a good next option?
Stage 4 PCA for last 3 years. Had 6 cycles of Chemo and then Abiraterone for 18+ months (PSA dropped to 0.2 then more recently rose to 58 in June '23 ). Abiraterone eventually stopped working and I was able to join Radium 223 trial. Completed 5 of 6 cycles of Radium 223, then elected to stop since

Early 50s male, healthy till hypothyroidism my first few months experience of treatment
I don't usually share info on the internet, but as a lot of material out there is aimed at women or Americans (I mean no offence to either!) I thought I'd stay my experience so far. Diagnosis, what does it all mean, and treatment/first medications. DIAGNOSIS Late 2022 I saw a nurse as I was taking longer
