My father and sister both died of heart disease in their 60s so do I have it too?

I am a 71 year old, conditioned athlete, hiking daily, lifting weights, and wrestling in jujitsu.  For the last three years, I have been stage four metastatic prostate cancer with tumors moving up my spine. I am currently on two different testosterone suppressing agents, Orgovyx and Zytiga. These drugs are listed as having potential cardiovascular side effects. I am a conditioned athlete in spite of my situation, but lately I have passed out cold several times when hiking or lifting weights. The first time I wound up in the ER unconscious, but after three days of testing, the doctors could find nothing wrong. My nuclear CT scan revealed a calcium score of 890 so my cardiologist put me on Lipitor. MRIs indicate my arteries are clear. This morning, I am scheduled to wear a heart monitor for three days followed by a CT angiogram. Under heavy exertion my blood pressure occasionally drops down to 77/42 then I either go unconscious, or remain semi conscious until able to lay flat. After laying flat for an hour or two I feel fine again. Doctors can’t seem to find what’s wrong.  What else should we be looking at?

What else should you be looking at... Probably reducing the intensity of the exercise you're doing... it's great you've kept up what you've been doing and it's really admirable, but if it's starting to cause problems then it might be time to reassess.

Wouldn’t it be better to figure out what’s wrong and fix it?

Going only by the information you've given, you only experience these symptoms on exertion.

It would be prudent to stop exerting yourself until you know what is wrong, and it's fixed.

Your body is going through enough as it is, without pushing it to breaking point.

Just my tuppence though - what do your doctors advise?

i’ve had every kind of test they can think of except for the upcoming CT angiogram this week. And so far they can’t find anything. But somethings clearly wrong.

I am on ADT degarelix for more than 5 years now. My heart is funny. For example today my heartbeat is elevated and remains relatively high even after sleep during the day.

Couple of days ago I was amazed that afternoon after walking to the city my heartbeat was a normal 63 and my blood pressure was 100% normal and I was OK.

I would like to do the MRI of my brain to see do I have a benign tumour in my pituitary glend. I am not a doctor just concerned that one day I feel like I have a heart failure a next day totally normal. I don't believe that I have a bipolar as it would not chenge from one day to the other day.

I do have a sleep apnea and I believe that could be a problem. I do have a machine but I just discovered that I was using a faulty mask for one year. I bought it new. I still not sure if the mask is faulty or they just changed the design of the mesh. Very frustrating. I am now using my old mask and I don't want to buy a new one again if a problem is because of the change of the design.

I have an old resmed S9 autoset machine and my new mask is liking (does not pass the lick test) actually it is OK at start but fails the lick test after longer time doing the test.

I believe our degarelix injections are causing problems but in my situation it is intermittent.

If I were you I would be careful not to hurt myself. Are you sure that you don't have or that you did not develop a long QT syndrome? That could be genetic or pushed by our ADT medication if we are on the edge.

Are you deficient in magnesium, calcium etc? I hope that you are not fasting for longer than 3 days and that you do not have electrolytes inbalance after diarea or womiting?

Yes. I drink a gallon of water everyday plus electrolytes.

hmm…could you be over-hydrating and washing some goodness out of your body, despite your electrolyte intake? Comprehensive blood tests might give pointers but you may have to go privately to get them.

Sorry to hear how you been feeling that's so strange that they can't find the cause of the fainting? How have you been in this heat? X

It's definitely warm summer weather here but this problem started in the cold winter. It's like how you feel when standing up to quick and almost pass out. That's how I feel when working out.

Oh wow ok so you feel light headed and then pass-out?? Definitely sounds heart related. Hope your monitor picks up what's causing it 😕🤔

Maybe you have a LQTS (long QT syndrome):
