The Proof is in the Pudding!
Good morning....In case you are reading this and have no idea who I am or what has been going on, I'll bring you up to speed. I have been reconfirmed through a second biopsy that indeed I do hav PBC and an AMA negative. My numbers flared up last summer, high that ever. I am not able to tolerate URSO

Is anyone else a bit of an anomaly?
I was diagnosed with PBC with possible AIH overlap around 12 years ago. After the first few years it appeared that it was just PBC, but my current gastroenterologist has always been a bit unsure about whether to put me on steroids. He refers to me as a difficult case… I am AMA-negative but was diagnosed

Urso
Hi just wondering did anyone start off taking Urso slowly and build up the dose over a couple of weeks. I want to try and avoid as many side effects as possible and wondered if this helped your system get used to it. Thanx

Urso without a definitive diagnosis
Has anyone been treated with URSO without a definitive diagnosis? If one doesn't want to have a biopsy and is AMA negative?

Hello I have been in pain since last year, my whole body aches, I cannot walk properly in the morning because of leg and foot pain, my hands are swollen. My hand goes into a painful spasm, I also have neck shoulder and back pain, yesterday I overdid it with housework and gardening today I can hardly

Options for PBC Itch?
Hello, I have had PBC for years with progressive itch. I am an "incomplete" responder to Urso and Ocaliva (on both). I take Cholestyramine but in the past year the itching has gotten significantly worse where I scratch all night, am scaring up my arms and legs and tear the dead dry skin off the soles

Clinical Trial
Hi everyone, I’ve just been asked if I’d like to go on a clinical trial called RHUDEX It’s a second stage trial as my PBC isn’t being managed effectively with Urso. Is anyone else on this or has any knowledge of it? Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve been on.

New post about Itch
Hi All. I know there are many historic posts about itch but as new meds and potions come along I wondered if anyone could share their positive experiences of getting their itch under control? (Please don't post negative ones!) I've had PBC for 10 years and being an Urso responder, have pretty much

GGT
Just after some thoughts.... Diagnosed with pbc in October, started staking urso mid October, had a bad bout of biliary colic due to gallstones in November. Just had some bloods done ready for my 3 month check mid January. Looks like all but my ggt have come back into range. Ggt was 311 in October,

PBC prognosis
Hi, I was diagnosed with pbc around a year ago. I'm on urso and my blood levels are now normal. I know it isn't possible to say, but is there a chance that I may never develop symptoms? Do some people stay well and the disease doesn't progress? Or does everyone become symptomatic eventually? Thanks

Receipe
I have had pbc for about 3 years and I am taking urso 1000 a day. I have also had 2 back surgery during this time and I am in a lot of pain from that but I also can tell some pain is from my colon. The dr. says that nerve ending from back can also effect the colon. I have also been wondering has anyone

Ox bile or TUDCA
Has anyone tried ox bile or TUDCA. Ursodiol causes acne weight gain and hair loss. I have been taking Urso for 9 years. I am taking 500 mg twice a day of ox bile.

Uva Ursi
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that
Uva
Ursi
helps reduce UTIs by probably the same action as cranberry juice and d-mannose.
Uva
Ursi
is however recommended for clearing the kidneys, which cranberry and d-mannose may not do.

Takes time but will improve
I think most of us experienced hair loss when first on Urso. Seemed to last with me for a few years until got used to it and then stopped and hair started thickening up a bit. Have been a vegetarian for past 23 years. Diagnosed with PBC 15 years ago. I have never experienced the ‘itch’. I believe giving

PBC WORRIES
If you have PBC, yes, you will be on meds and see a specialist or GI for the rest of your life. I get bloodwork done every 3 months. Urso keeps my enzymes down, but my AK is still a bit high. My VERY favorite quote is: “ You will not die from PBC, you’ll die simply having it”. It’s a very slow moving

Will I see specialist forever?
Hi everyone, I started seeing my liver specialist a long time ago now. It must be 8 years. They found out I had positive AMA and also ANA when investigating my arthritis. I still am labelled as arthritis (query rheumatoid) and mild chronic liver condition but he hasn’t yet called it PBC, two vague labels

Pbc with psc overlap
Hi can anyone help me , I was diagnosed with Pbc in 2012 and have been on urso since then , but my alt and my ALK phos remains high . I was referred to Addenbrooks and was told they were going to try a 2nd line Treatment. When it went to the MDT board they looked at my scans and now think I have a PSC
