Is there hope? I’m dreading asking the question of “how long”…
My father was diagnosed in September ‘23 with a PSA in the 900s. It had already metastasized throughout his body in several parts of his bones (ribs, spine, hips, femur and a spot at the base of his skull) but no organs had been affected other than his prostate. We were hopeful when it began to climb

Gemzar was tough
I spent many years on Avastin since 2008 diagnosis. When I came out of remission from it. I was put on carbo/Gemzar. I had a bad reaction to the Carbo, so I had 10 treatments of Gemzar. I finally had to ask Onco to stop because I was losing my quality of life. Now that I’m off Gemzar, I’m hoping

Buprenorphine
I am writing this to highlight how miraculous Buprenorphine has been for me and many others on this site. My sleep app shows how good my sleep is. I had never heard of buprenorphine until Shumbah posted that it had resolved her severe, refractory RLS. No neurologist has ever mentioned it. Like Shumbah

Adenoma query
Hi, I have had further consultation and one of the three liver tumours is an adenoma. They've told me that there is a risk of malignancy but it's small, however I should not take hormonal contraceptives as it causes an increase in risk. I am due to have another MRI to check the tumours next month. Something

xeloda and appetite
I'm on round 4 of Xeloda and my appetite is very poor. I'm losing weight which isn't good. Most foods just sound "gross" to me. Rice, pasta, cereals and yogurts are good but not enough protein/carbs. Anyone have some ideas on foods that have what I need and may be appealing to me? thanks.

Monoamine oxidase A (MAOA): A promising target for prostate cancer therapy
New paper below [1]. {MAOA has been a promising therapy for 20 years imo.} "Previous studies have shown that MAOA is clinically associated with prostate cancer (PCa) progression and plays a key role in almost each stage of PCa, including castrate-resistant prostate cancer, neuroendocrine prostate cancer

LGSOC located in pleura
HiIs there anyone whose lgsoc is located in the pleura? I was diagnosed in June 2020. My ovaries were removed as part of a hysterectomy in 2008 hence the migration to the pleura. Debulking was to take place but surgeon said there was too much cancer. I have had chemo for secondaries. So it's incurable

can you refuse hysterectomy and just have large cyst removed instead???
Hi All, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with turning down a hysterectomy and just getting a large cyst removed instead on the nhs? There is pressure on me to have a hysterectomy but I don’t want this and instead just want the large cyst I have removing and to then manage my symptoms with

Expression of TCL1A gene is found to drive onset of blood cancer
One of the causes of blood cancer is non-inherited mutations in blood stem cells that can lead to the cancerous growth of abnormal cells. Reporting in Nature, scientists now suggest that targeting a gene called TCL1A may be able to suppress such growth and decrease the risk of blood cancer....

I’ve been unsure of what was wrong with me, just knew something wasn’t right. Had a CAT scan late 2021 which didn’t reveal anything and had an MRI Summer 2022 again didn’t show any major anomalies. Finally diagnosed in November 2022 by consultant neurologist at Perth Infirmary who confirmed I

Have you been on Gemcitabine (Gemzar)?
Hello, I am starting Gemcitabine tomorrow and am wondering if anyone has advice on this chemo? Is it well tolerated? A nurse told me today I should get a port, my Oncologist said I should be fine without one. I had a terrible time with Enhertu and extreme nausea, I’m hoping this drug won’t be as hard

ca125 up from last reading
I’m 49 and in 2019 was diagnosed with stage 1c2. It was found in pathology after having ovaries removed prophylactically due to finding out I was BRCA1 positive. I had 3 rounds of taxol and carboplatin. I might mention that my ca125 was 8 so never indicated cancer. During chemo my number rose to 9.
