Endocrinologist visit
Dear all, Comments are very welcome, direction guidance also. I had my 2nd endo visit, the first one I noted on the forum as was observed as a crappy letter which it was. I was ready to take forward the advice I received last time from #fightfor your thyroid# 🤸‍♀️ I didn’t take my normal medication

My GP has advised that I should be taking statins, however the Ibrutinib patient info states: The effects of IMBRUVICA or other medicines may be influenced if you take IMBRUVICA together with any of the following medicines: ….. medicines called statins to treat high cholesterol – rosuvastatin Any other

Just what does any endocrinologist really know about hormones? Do they even know of the existence of half of them? No, of course I am not saying that they should know about things that have not been discovered. But they just might accept that:

When will I stop feeling like a Guinea pig ? I think I’m all sorted then I get a big Bruse on my foot this time! Then notice more veins broken on my legs , changing colour now with all the damage. When will it stop? Is anyone on biologics methotrexate and statins?

TSH and Bone Health
It can be interesting when papers published at the same time are in conflict. Yet again, concentrating on TSH - not on thyroid hormone levels. Of course, this we recognise as it is near-universal. And any review or meta-analysis inevitably uses what is available. Se also this recent post/thread: https

How to treat the elderly with thyroid hormone (T4)?
A new downloadable paper in Frontiers in Thyroid Endocrinology. It still peddles T4 only as the only option. Polypharmacy means taking other drugs as well as T4.

Praluent injections
I’ve just started Praluent injections as I’m intolerant to statins! After 1st injection I have chest tightness and intermittent breathlessness. I had the same with statins. Has anyone else had similar effects? Not sure if I should see if symptoms settle until next injection in 2 weeks or contact consultant

Statins and general update!
Had a fasting blood test for high cholesterol (second - first test gave 7+ result) last week. Due to hand foot and mouth and terrible state of nails they added on blood tests for diet deficiencies. So. First fab report is that nail lady fixed my poorly nails and they feel amazing. I phoned for bloods

Low iron high cholesterol
Does anyone know if low iron causes high cholesterol? My cholesterol is very high after taking 40 mgs of statins a day. Just found out my iron is low. I have googled a few things about it but haven't found out much.

How I Conquered Heart-Disease and What I Have Learned in the Process
Before I relay the story, please read this first: What is the nature of your diet? Do you consume: - soft drinks, alcohol or fruit juices? If so, how often? - pasta, rice, bread, pizza, potatoes? - potato chips (crisps), pretzels, crackers? - fried foods (including fried eggs)? French fries? -

Comparing Statins to the Mediterranean Diet - An objective view of the risks vs the benefits of each approach to CVD risk-reduction
By Shereen K. Lehman, DC, MS and James Lehman, DC THE NUMBER NEEDED TO TREAT NNT represents an estimate of the number of people who need to undergo the treatment of interest in order to prevent one additional adverse outcome from occurring. For example, if an intervention has an NNT of 10, it means

Good afternoon all. I went in and had another stent fitted on the 5th of February after a bit of a wait and 3 ambulance call outs, the third one they kept me in as they said I was a high risk. I am feeling much better and not getting so out of breath. The consultant thinks my problem is genetic and I

So confused
I was diagnosed with very mild build up in 2 small arteries the only reason they gave me the scan was because I pushed for it, Drs kept telling me my chest pain which i get every day, was anxiety, even after the diagnosis they said the amount of build up didn't warrant how much pain I was getting, I

Ezetimibe
Does anyone on here take zetia or ezetimibe for cholesterol? I cannot tolerate the pain that statins cause and my cholesterol has gone up since I have been off Lipitor.

I have some atheroma
I have had a CT angiogram recently and i have a narrowing of the right coronary artery at the beginning. In the left CA there was the appearance of a possible lesion in the mid left anterior descending but they thought this was artifactual and so not related to me (does this mean it was a screen fault

Statins
On the back of TheAwfulToad's post re Dwight Lundell, consider this: If you've had a heart attack and take statins for 5 years as a consequence, trusting you are doing the right thing, your extended lifespan would be considerable and worth putting up with the side effects up to and including rhabdomyolysis
