I saw the Clinical Pharmacist today after a routine blood test ( I had also requested one) and I am "trialling" being off statins.

@MikePollard : how will my diet affect the fasting blood test in a few months time See:

If you adopt the LCHF lifestyle, all you blood parameters will improve. The best indicater of heart health is triglyceride to HDL ratio.

Thank you.

I have (had) memory problems - but I had thought it was due to vascular cognitive impairment.

Well done. I suspect the 'keto flu' that you described might miraculously disappear. Your memory problems will almost certainly improve - it's one of the most common side effects. No, scratch that - it's not a "side effect". It's a completely predictable effect of the statin mechanism.

Statins are quite literally poison. Their negative effects on the body are so profound and wide-ranging it amazes me that humans don't drop down dead while taking them. We're very resilient creatures.

God save us from the doctors!

Hi :)

What diet are you planning to follow to make the improvement you mention to your blood results?

That was the reason for this post.

I am thinking I would continue with reduced carbohydrate medium fat.

Sorry, just checking.

Based on my understanding of the research, your current diet wouldn't be thought to make the changes discussed above.

But the human body is a contrary thing and perhaps your fasting will be enough to help.

Wishing you well.
