Didn't take my Thyroid meds right and am very sick.
I don't know why I allowed this to happen, but I just a lot on my mind and did not adhere to to all the rules of taking the med effectively. I was taking Synthroid 225 in early morning. Sometimes, I would take it right after a GAs X or something like that and take it with food or other meds. I have

Astrovastatin
Hi All, I have been asked to take 40mg astrovastatin by my doctor. My cholesterol is very high. I have fatty liver and type 2 diabetes. I have read that statins can damage your liver and increase blood sugars. Yet I am still expected to take them. I have told my doctor that from past experience I have

Post Bypass Cholesterol check
I have been on 20mg of statins since about a month before my CABG in March. The cardiac rehab nurse suggested that I should be on a higher dose, such as 80mg. She wanted to be sure and I had a fasting blood test a week ago. My cholestorol is now down from 6.7 to 3.4 and at an acceptable level. I

The dreaded high LDL cholesterol!!
For a good 30+ years I have had VERY high cholesterol readings . When I first discovered this , statins weren't even invented and all I was advised involved diet and exercise. This reduced it a little but I was fit, not overweight, no high blood pressure, no family history of heart attacks, etc, so I

Relationship between serum cholesterol and Graves' orbitopathy (GO): a confirmatory study
The abstract of this paper is like many others in that it switches between "high cholesterol" and "low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol". Well, perhaps it all makes more sense in the full paper? (Though that is behind a paywall.) Still, the simple observation of an association is interesting and

Free triiodothyronine level correlates with statin responsiveness in acute myocardial infarction
Just possibly, low T3 is the underlying issue - rather than why statins have poor responsiveness in at least some patients. [i]J Geriatr Cardiol. 2018 Apr; 15(4): 290–297. doi: 10.11909/j.issn.1671-5411.2018.04.009 PMCID: PMC5997620

Can you help with advice on side effects of drugs for high blood pressure?
66-year-old male with high blood pressure. Have been on statins for 5 years or more which, unfortunately, did not shield me against a TIA last month. Statin dose has been increased (from 10 to 40mg), and Lercanidipine dose doubled (from 10 to 20 mg), and now also on Clopidogrel 75mg. One month on experiencing

New to the site and diagnosed with PV in February 2018
Hi, I am a 58 year old woman whi was fairly fit and healthy and active with walking dog and previously going to the gym, I had a few TIA's that were thought to possibly be panic attacks initially (but I was calling them stroke like symptoms!) and eventually had a stroke on 10/2/18. Stroke caused by

Massive Increase In Statin Dose Post Bypass
After my bypass my statin dose was quadrupled! Whilst I understand why statins are prescribed I cannot find any real explanation for the massive increase. Obviously I will ask at my follow up appointment butt wondered if anybody knew why. If I extrapolated the reduction in my cholesterol level from my

Losing eyebrows
Hi I have been on 75mg levothyroxine for almost 11 years. In the last few months I have noticed my once thick eyebrows are now almost non existant. My recent blood tests showed up in normal range. I am nearly 70 years old and also diabetic type 2. Wondered whether the eyebrow loss was an Old age thing

Statins
See comments on both this forum and the Thyroid one about the advisability or not of taking statins. I have a chadvasc score of 3, old lady! and high blood pressure. I take Dabigatran along with various bp meds and because of the statins no-one bothers to re-test my cholesterol level. I half-heartedly

Statins and AF
Today i had an appointment with the nurse regarding a pre diabetes chat as I was on the borderline with score of 42. She was encouraging me to take a statin as my cholesterol was 5.2 to help prevent stroke and heart attack but I thought Apixaban would help prevent stroke. I wasn’t keen so she has made
